Error, please help!

I was doing some very basic value changes in the ini.big file concerning the balrog's and shade of wolf's health and lifetime (just changing them to 400000 each) and when I quit and started up BFME 2 ROTWK it didnt work (a game.dat error came up, but it didnt say squat), so I changed the values back and it was fine. What is happening and how can I fix it (if Im being to vague please tell me).
