Hi there,
I'm hoping you can help me.
Last weekend, myself and a Friend (we'll call him Friend 1 for the purposes of this topic) were playing Generals online using Gentool to connect with, we played a good 10+ games over the Saturday and Sunday, until suddenly he could no longer connect to my server.
The next day, we tried again, this time with another friend (Friend 2).
Both Friend 1 & Friend 2 are on the same Router (They live together).
I found that I still could not connect with Friend 1. However I could connect with Friend 2
And Friend 1 & 2 could not connect to each other properly either.
Things we've tried:
- We have both done a clean re-install of Generals and of Gentool.
- We've all run the NATNegTest tool, and had the following outcomes:
Myself - Success, NAT is fine, no port forwarding required
Friend 1 - Failed, Please use port forwarding
Friend 2 - Failed, Please use port forwarding (as you would expect given that they're on the same router)
- We all have added Gentool and C&C Generals as Firewall exceptions (both Windows Firewall and Norton)
- Friend 1 has put himself in the DMZ on their router to see if that works - it didn't.
- Friends have restarted Router.
- Tried using Gameranger instead but neither Friend 1 nor Friend 2 could connect to Gameranger servers.
Other things to note:
- C&C 3 Tiberium Wars & RA3 Online works fine (going through C&C Online launcher).
- Usually I am hosting the server, Friend 1 connects to the server just fine, but does not connect when going into the game. (his progress bar never goes up on my screen and visa-versa)
- If I get Friend 1 to host the game instead, I can't even connect to his game lobby ("Cannot connect to Host") etc.
- [EDIT] (added more info) - We are all using the Origin Ultimate Edition version of the game.
I'm out of options now lol, the weird things is, I don't know why it used to work fine, and now it doesn't - or why Friend 2 who is on the same Router can connect just fine to me, but not Friend 1 anymore.
Cheers,
Sam
