In Topic: "CANNOT CONNECT" message

07 February 2014 - 09:11 PM

Hello,

Two other persons reported the problem on our forum. One of them (online name : Colablack) tried connecting just now (10:06 PM GMT+1) and couldn't even reach the login page. He gets this message when he clicks on Online (in the game) : "Unable to establish connection with Bfme servers. Please check your internet connection."

Hi guys,

Issue #2 is solved too, after my mate asked his ISP a patch for his router.

Thanks a lot for your help. :)

His game sends some weird non-ASCII characters in the CD-key, which the server cannot handle. I don't know why this is the case if it's not that way in the registry, I have never seen it before.

I checked with him in the registry, and the key was indeed displayed properly. I made him rewrite it manually, and then he could successfully connect to the server. So Issue #1 is solved. Thanks a lot for the details. :)

Could it be a french version of the game that doesn't work? No idea if that should cause any issues.

French versions are not supposed to be different from other versions. I have no clue what caused this, I had never seen this kind of thing before. :)

Does he have Bfme Online Edition?

No, he has an original CD and an original key.

Issue number 2 :

He doesn't use an anti-virus.
He's on Windows 8 too.

Please make sure  if he has any another security application or Windows Defender which comes from windows 8 as default, just turn it off.

I tried with him with firewall disabled, ports open, no active antivirus : he couldn't connect.

At the moment we're trying to get a firmware from his ISP for his router. I can't see any other solution, as he can play through GameRanger but never connects to any player on T3A Online. It's really weird.

Thanks a lot to all for help.

I will keep you updated about issue #2, when we receive an answer from my mate's ISP.

The server connection crashes when trying to read his CD key. Tell him to fix/replace the key in the registry.

Hi Phil, thanks for your answer. :)

What should he fix in the key, or what should he replace it with? Because the crashes occurred with two different keys, his own and the one we gave him after. At the moment the ergc shows the correct key (the last one he used to install).

What are we missing? :)

Hi Phil,

For Issue #1, his username is Colablack. He tried to log in several times on Saturday 11/30, I think that was after 10pm GMT +1 (sorry, I can't be more precise). He also tried again yesterday in the evening.

I don't know if you can do something for issue #2, but just in case his username is Ysgramor07. Dates and times should be the same.

Thanks a lot. :)
