In Topic: BFME 1 cursor issue

30 August 2017 - 02:56 PM

hi guys

need some help got BFME working again after a long time on a  new PC (with 55' TV ) at 3840X2160 and running the game at 1600x1200. I got the zoom out issue fixed but it seems the cursor is too big meaning the select box and the movement arrow box are quite big and annoying. any idea how  can reduce the size?

thanks

If you are not scared of technical work. You go in your BFME2 game folder then go into Data > Cursors. And edit the "new_pointer.cur" into a smaller cursor.

Your next question might be how do I edit .cur files.

Good luck  :thumbsuphappy:

In Topic: BFME 1 bases working in BFME 2

I worked on a mod that overwrites everything in BFME 2 to be exactly like BFME 1. I got to a point where the core mechanics worked but due lack of time I didn't change all the formations, stats etc. to the original BFME1  yet. If someone wants to help with that feel free to give me a private message. Maybe we can make a community project out of it. Would be fun to make the war of the ring mode work aswell with BFME1 maps and story line. Perhaps re-create the good and evil campaign from the first game in bfme 2 through its linear campaign (BFME 2 campaing doesn't have the Living World Map).

In Topic: HELP! Speed up movement response rate

You can't is the short answer. Most RTS games use the Peer-to-Peer Lockstep. You can read more about this here: https://gafferongame...me_networking/

Basic idea is that before your unit moves everyone in the network needs to exchange information of where the units go what abilities they use etc. Modern RTS games add prediction to it so you don't notice the "lag". Before prediction their "solution" for the lag is to simply add a voice command when you move a character. They shout on the client side something like "Yes boss". So they make it seem as if the unit got the move command order at the instantance you clicked. But in reality its just to trick you into thinking its going instant. But if you play long enough you notice the delays which you are talking about.

ohhhh that click on "add skirmish players".

I suggest to look at this video first.

https://youtu.be/wr2YexCZf-A?t=100 (I made it so it starts at the point in the video where its relevant to your question) Still I suggest to watch the whole video as it will give you some extra info about worldbuilder  :thumbsuphappy:

Go in the objects INI and change these:

Side                = Men
EditorSorting       = STRUCTURE

This will sort the worldbuilder objects list.  :thumbsuphappy:
