Merry Christmas to all! As a surprise present, I give you version 1.2 of my Kings of the West mod.
You can download it over at ModDB: http://www.moddb.com...f-the-west-mod/
There is a ReadMe included in the mod, but here is a basic summary of changes:
- Forged blades removed
- Fire Arrows can be easily toggled on/off once purchased
- Banner Carriers now raise to level 4
- Gondor and Rohan AI improved
- Command Point limits raised
- Lots of bugs fixed and in-game text cleaned up
- Rohan balance completely changed so as to encourage the use of cavalry
There will almost certainly be a version 1.3 of the mod (likely to fix balance issues related to Rohan), released in the next week or two, so please head over to my sub-forum and leave me feedback about this version and how I can improve it for the next version: http://forums.revora...on-12-feedback/
The mod comes with an installer and shortcuts for both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. I have not yet tested it to see if it is compatible with community patch 1.05 (the existence of which I just discovered last night). I will make version 1.3 compatible with community patch 1.05+.
This ends the information about the mod, I hope you enjoy it! I would like to take a brief moment to discuss why I came back and how long I'll be around for - if you don't care about that, then you can stop reading here
A few weeks back I finally replaced my ancient, 7 year old laptop with a new beast of a machine (i7 quad core, SSD, 8GB RAM, dedicated video card, etc) and so I decided to try out BFME again and for the first time ever I got to play it on highest graphics and finally use my Minas Morgul castle in a real game (my old laptop wasn't powerful enough to render it in an actual game). I had quite a bit of fun but I also saw a number of bugs and was frustrated by some of them (every unit using Theoden's voice for instance). So I decided to fix it and real life cooperated and gave me a several week long window of free time where I could actually devote time to the mod. Unfortunately that window of free time is closing fast and by the end of the first week in January, I will really need to get back to other projects. So I won't be able to stick around for long, but I'm excited about the T3A:Online server (I'm going to be trying that out today or tomorrow) and I am definitely going to try to release one more version of the mod next week to fix any issues I discover in this one, or that are reported by the community. After that I'm afraid I'll be fading into the mist again, but maybe with the server running I can stop by occasionally for an online game or two; after all, I do enjoy BFME quite a bit!
Again, I hope you enjoy the mod and I'm glad to see this place is still around after all this time
