Last Stand 2

14 May 2008 - 07:35 PM

Found a really good flash zombie game on the interwebz the other day. It's actually damned good, though pretty difficult. Give it a shot.

The Cyberiad

07 May 2008 - 08:45 PM

I found this book on the recommendation of a family friend of mine, a professor at a nearby college. It's written originally in Polish by a man named Stanislaw Lem, notorious in the science fiction community in his day for his scorn towards his American contemporaries. This book is absolute genius. The stories initially seem like childish little medieval - era fantasy tales, until you realize two things: a. all the characters are robots (it actually took me a bit to understand that), and b. how very deep they are.

The stories themselves are pretty entertaining, in a kind of cute way, focusing around two "constructors" capable of building anything. The way in which they are forced to use there machines are generally pretty interesting and surprisingly logical, but the when you look back at them they generally exploit a weakness in human character you never realized was there. I'd really recommend this...

(Genre?) Yardcore

14 April 2008 - 09:11 PM

I just went to see Toots & The Maytals on the 10th, absolutely brilliant show. But one of the most interesting parts was the opening band, a group called the Fear Nuttin band. Half the members are born in Jamaica, the others born in the nearby city of Springfield (currently the most dangerous city in MA I believe, one of the most dangerous in the country, very depressed.) The Jamaican members were originally Reggae/dub singers or rappers. The Springfield crew were all in metal or punk bands. But they ended up forming a band together and completely mixing all the genres. And the amazing thing? It works brilliantly. It does sound notably like Skacore, but there's still no way it could be classified that way. It's really like nothing I've heard, this "Yardcore." It's got a very reggae feel to it, but with slamming guitar riffs and they rap over it with thick Jamaican accents. The result isn't only interesting and new, it also sounds really, really good. The show was sick, everyone was jumping up and down screaming and yelling and moshing. I got punched quite a few times during some of their songs (not what you'd really expect at a reggae concert but it was before people really started blazing, and it was pretty welcome, makes for a great show).

You can hear a few of their tracks on their site (http://www.fearnuttinband.com/), my favorite being Rule The World, which was straight up amazing live. Tell me what you think!

Au revoir...

Well, I've had a lot of fun the RP's but I think I'm done now. Nowe, if you could please remove the staff rank and such. Just thought I'd let you know, and not just ditch out all of a sudden as seems to be the usual mode of exiting.

The Caravan

09 March 2008 - 08:47 PM

This can get wicked confusing, so why don't we settle who's where. Here's the order of the cars as I see it, if you think it should be otherwise let me know. ? represents an open slot.

Mower - Titus
Ford F - 150 - John Doe, Darkman, ?, ?
SUV - Jamie, Carl, Dean, ?
VW Bus - I assume Ryn will still be driving, Old Man, Helena, ?, ?, ?, ?
Jeep w/.50 - Driver?, Silva on gun, Kelvin, ?

Edit: I looked through the story, and I think all NPCs are now accounted for, though we never really have kept good track of them. Rachel's the unconcious one right? I'll go in the truck as well, I guess.

Oh hey the F - 150 seats like 4 people.
