I recently downloaded a mod (Battle of the Pelennor Fields for those curious: https://www.moddb.co...pelennor-fields )

It uses the -mod command, like AOTR, BOTTA, and my Angmar mod do. I was able to put it on my laptop no problem, but the mod would not work on my friend's desktop. It crashes on the splash screen (like the options.ini crash). Both base games are installed exactly the same (stock+patch 2.01) and they both play normally, just the mod won't work on one computer for some reason. The only differences that I can think of is that both the game installation and the mod folder are on my friend's D: drive as opposed to the C: drive on my laptop, and that my friend is borrowing my original CDs to run the game whereas I have virtual CDs mounted. This shouldn't make a difference should it?

I spent 20-30 minutes double-checking everything, trying to figure out what the issue was, and I could not resolve it (we ended up playing LOTRO instead haha)

Any ideas? I've tried searching for this issue but all I can find are posts about the options.ini crash. That is not the issue here, even though the splash screen crashes just like it does for options.ini. Help with this would be greatly appreciated!

I am in the process of making a mod. I was previously basing it on patch 2.01, but obviously that version has a few issues.

So, I decided I wanted to base my mod on patch 2.02. I extracted every version of 2.02 in order (from oldest to newest) and I even fixed the gamedata.ini problem (where it won't read macros, following this guide: https://www.the3rdage.net/item-56).

I tried to start my game, but it just closes with no error or popup. What is going on here? It is the same type of crash that happens when there is no options.ini file, except I have mine. I have tried looking up the crash, but all results talk about options.ini which is not the issue here.

Do I need to pack up my mod back into a .big file and move it to my game installation in order for it to work? I have not made any changes to the files (besides macro renaming); all I have done is extract 2.02 and I'm trying to run it with the -mod command so I can get to work on my mod. Any ideas?

This is my first post here, although I've read many threads.

I reinstalled ROTWK a few months back and I am dissatisfied with Angmar's textures (They look very cartoonish). I decided I wanted to redo them, in a darker theme. I am kind of going for the BFME 2 Ettenmoors goblin fortress style of dark, minus the goblins aspect. I'm also kind of going for the LOTRO style Angmar (their banner is epic!).

So I started with the hall of the king's men. I exported the art\compiledtextures\kb\kbhall.dds (what appears to be the main building texture) using FinalBIG, made it darker using Gimp, and put it back into the textures2.big (where I got it originally) replacing the original. I load the game, and... nothing changed. It still looks like vanilla. I have searched for hours to find out how to change textures, and I cannot find a comprehensive tutorial, especially one involving buildings. I see that the INI file references a kbhall.tga (not kbhall.dds, the file I edited) as the texture for the Angmar barracks, but I cannot find any such file . So I am wondering, how can I modify existing building textures?

Now I realize this part may not exactly belong in this thread, but it is a related question. How can I create a new building? I know I will need something to get a W3D. Right now all I have is FinalBIG and Gimp, and again, I cannot find any complete information on the subject. I'm wanting to add a statue for Angmar, like the watching-stones that LOTRO has. Can you guys help me out? It would be greatly appreciated
