Could do something like these for Erebor as a early game, as for the Iron Hills:

Say I did some variations like this for The Horse Lords, I did work upon Valquenta's great model of course.

Having the Erebor soldiers be upgradeable like others, is defenitely a good idea, We'll go with that for sure =)

As far as GW goes, I guess I just really like their design of the generic dwarfes, and designing a unit that is not in the movie gives more artistic freedom than the ones that are. But I agree that some details should be added to make them look more Iron HIlls-ish. I think I'm gonna ask NJM* to send me some of the dwarven model as OBJs that I can import into zBrush, for a quick try at a dwarven sculpt. I don't have any high hopes regarding that though, as I find orcs to be MUCH more easy to do than more human like models =/ So, you're welcome to make a suggestion too RoR :p

* EDIT: I meant MTL  <^_^

And I'll put up more obj objects. There is a tool for Blender by Arathorn that streamlines the import-w3d/export-obj process very nicely.

=D

I really like the design of this Boar. Would it possible to make it for Dain

Iron_Hills_Soldiers_Concept_Art1.png

Rather than the one used in the film which is more of a pig.

Modeling that boar would be pretty easy. Adapting it to anims would be harder as it wouldn't fit a horse skeleton, nor a warg... I would fit the "beasts" in vanilla game, but those doesn't come with a rider.

Just to give you an indea what I would have liked the Iron Hills dwarves look like in the film (at least in lighter armor):

Or in a slightly more cartoony game style:

Have you considered scale mail as opposed to ring mail? This would give a little more continuity between the dwarves by being able to use angular scales. Not that this doesnt look good, I just have a hard time seeing it in a LOTR mod, I see this and think "stunted vikings"

This is Thorin's Scale Mail - but it can give you an idea how to expand on it

Something else that bothered me about the Dwarves of the Iron Hills is that WETA designed swords and mattocks for them but they used the Erebor pikes in the movie.

Naz that's full plate coupled with scale.

We can solve this no problem lol... erebor gets mattock, spearmen, and swords with the hexagon shields
Iron hills gets phalanx (long spears) with the kite shields from the film

Armament differentiates them and the subtle on screen differences are now irrelevant.

Iron hills should get Mattocks, that's what they're notable for in the books.

Could go either way. Archers from erebor would be good. But there were none in the films. Same with iron hills. If anything light dwarf short bows and dale marksmen make the best sense

Yeah, we "made" dwarven archers long time ago, way before the Hobbit movies. But those are based on the "cartoony" Miner model. Not sure yet where I wanna go with that considering I should avoid getting burried in yet another modeling ordeal of gigantic proportions and on the same time, I want consistancy and matching models, in terms of proportions.
