I was thinking something a little less generic and broad ranged. Im thinking of actual names of areas within moria - like dwarrowdelf, bridge of khazad-dum, endless stair etc... I might go with "Durins Way". I kind of like it, was hoping for something better and from the lore.

How bout "The Twenty-First Chamber"? I believe that's what the huge columned room is called in lore.

I could do "the Twenty-first hall" LOTR wiki has it named as that. Still need a name for the newer map though - for now "Durins way" will do. Ill probably use that map a few pages back for naming locations. I think Ill do 2 more maps in moria:

Redhorn Lodes - a large area where dwarven mining has carved a large chamber, With many passages leading out and intermixing players will need to use the mining chamber for resources since build space will be limited at start locations.
Cistern - a mostly water filled map deep in the depths of mora, Flooding will make it hard to build and expand.

That's a nice design. I love the contrast between this map's tight hallways and the other map's open room, really helps show Moria's different environments.

Now all that's missing is that cistern map... :thumbsupcool:

Ok so Im ready to show some of the Cistern map. The design is inspired by some images of an ancient cistern that has rows of columns through the actual water, Suprisingly the image reminded me very much of the 21st hall but with water. I chose to not put columns in the water. Ive also chosen to have some waterways that feed the cistern, I imagine that water is hard to come by and the dwarves with their cunning would find ways to route water from what sources they find along the way in building and carving the mountain.

Enough rambling:

Looks great! Maybe add some other tunnels that caved in and flooded.

Being inspired to map from real life places of beauty! Always the best way. ;)

One thing: Do you plan on making each of the maps unique or will they all have a lot in common (colour, lighting, sounds)? You could make Cistern have a watery glow, instead of the standard Moria colour?

The map doesn't have tunnels, its a large chamber. I do have some ideas on how to "age" the map to look old.

Real life imagery is the best source for design. I'd like the maps to all seem similar but be different. So certain aspects should be similar like the dwarven structures and general darkness of the map. A watery glow could be interesting, just depends on how subtle it is.

Ive got nearly 50% of the terrain and objects placed completed.

This map is very symetrical, but I believe it fits with the dwarves style from the films. A little known fact is that all the architecture is done with polygons - there are no round surfaces. Im going to add more destruction to the map, I hope this will make it appear less symetrical. Youll notice I decided to put columns in the water, I felt this opened the door to use that cool ruined column with the light beam. I really want to make use of all the moria assets I can. Ive always liked the beams of light and thought itd be cool if they shown down onto the water.
