Can someone verify that BFME-series works a-ok on Win 10?

Comfirned. Although the old RotWK mini-image doesn't work for some reason (replacement being le here).

Against the windows 8 look and style? What is that? They got rid of the horrible tile screen and instead put a small customizable one into the *gasp* start menu.

I actually really like Windows 10. The only downside I've found is Cortana (which I don't use), occasionally opens when I move on my touchpad cursor in an unrepeatable way. Very strange, but not a problem.

Autodesk 3ds Max 8 does not work well on Windows 10. I don't even touch the UV mapping in that program and I'm continuously having to restart the program. These guys are working on a Blender plugin, which I would prefer over an outdated 3d modelling program.

@Kwen. I assume that you do recognize a huge difference in UI between Win 7 and 8, no???

And I absolutely hate it and everything that has anything to do with Win 8. All those big colorful app buttons etc that makes it look like the utter failure Windows Phone. And from what I've seen, Win 10 looks more like 8 than 7, even though I read pre release that MS said they'd roll back in design due to the critisism for just that. I will probably update later though, when I'm possibly more convinced and most likely, that will be with a new system and not this laptop.

However... after 4 days of battling Windows Update I was FINALLY able to conquer all the MS demons via various fixes, trixs and workarounds. I think the biggest problem was that my Win 7 was pre SP1. Now, this morning it's all up to date and my system is once again clean, quick and responsive, just as it was brand new.

I don't EVER wanna do this again, so what I am doing now is a full size System Image backup, so if this need would occurr again, I can "simply" rollback to THIS point in january 2016, just having to reinstall my software, instead of rolling back to summer of 2010 when I bought it

Free from work today, so I should be back in business tonight 😆

Windows 10 looks more like 7 than 8 IMO. As I said, gone is that horrible tile screen. The tiles still exist, but only in the form of small customizable ones in the start menu.

Sounds promising... I'll check it out when I get a new system, hopefully later this year.

 

System Image backup done, all virus protection up to date... Had a bit of a fall out where the latest AMD drivers for the Radeon 5650 failed to run my external monitor via HDMI, so I had to roll back to 2010 drivers for some reason to get that bit in order, but whatever... Now I've reached the point though where I can install all programs/applications and games... and put the mod files back in place   WIndows is really fast and stable now, so it's definitely worth the hassle in the end.

 

EDIT: And at 03:15 am, that bit is done too... Only took 6 days to get this in order, lol
