Greetings!
I humbly explain the issue I am involved since I find out my old beloved game and it's immortal mod RJ-ROTWK. Since it been quite long time it feels great to feel this nostalgia. However the mod was undone since it's last patch released. You know what i mean. Like hero, unite portraits, button pictures etc.
So i started it with my primitive modding skill, just to upload portraits for the poor unites had no pictures to view their identity. But the mod comes with it complex built and creating DDS coded files not essential part of modding nowadays.
I did viewed some old forum instrations which led me to download the program called gimp and it's dds plug-in. And so reworked on some already existed dds files to create new pictures for missing portraits.
Since i did almost everything perfect like shown in tutorial, in game the unite portraits shown in naked pink colour.
I have checked asset.dat issue that may associate with the bug and why the newly created pictures not seeing by game. But must face that it is beyond my experience and finding source to learn a bit hopeless since the mod is outdated and no longer drag attention.
All my efforts to make the RJ - ROTWK mod still compete and desire to play!
Perhaps there might someone still interested to enlighten me, lead me step by step and share their experience that would be much appreciated!

Hey there. Do you use Discord? If so, I recommend joining the 3rd Age Modding discord: https://discord.gg/aGXwyMb
In there, there's people that can help you figure out why the asset.dat isn't working properly. Just be sure to explain your step by step process.

That's a massive project to be doing by yourself, Huns. But if you put the work in, you can get it done. We believe in you.

Greetings! I hope you are successful in your modding plan! In addition to Mathijs' point about Discord, there are plenty of expertly written tutorials written on The3rdAge.net
