Bloody marvelous, now i'm excited.
BFME looks quite good, hopefully RA3 will be more interesting than Generals.

hehe, i guess they have to work a bit longer on making a good tiberian game after tiberian sun, just the basic story would be hell to plan. might aswell start out with something that hasnt painted itself into an corner just yet...

Have you not noticed how they say in that letter, 'This will not be anywhere on the internet'?

Incidentally, for those thinking this is a hoax, there are two knocks against that theory: first, I received this via an e-mail address that is not known by anyone in the C&C community aside from EA (it's the address I used to register for Westwood Online oh-so-many years ago). Second, it's got almost exactly the same header file information as an e-mail I got back in March that was promoting Generals for EA - same e-mail address sender, same mailserver, same Return-Path, same Received routing table, same Message-ID domain. See the similarities in the graphics yourself:

if the glass is half empty, let it be half full for us who need a little good news now and then :p.

and i bet gamespy wouldnt be the first to post something like this if there was a great chance of it being a fake. that would be bad for business generally.

their best way of doing this game is to not set an unrealistic deadline for the release like in generals, that was the only reason generals was so shit.

EA should know to give their people some time to work on such a project. its one of the better products that westwood managed to get out, and should be given time to be done. lets just hope they dont put their mental release date around the latter winter part of the year, since that probably would mean EA would push them to release it around christmas. if they on the other hand think "lets try to get it done by oktober 2006" they might get a few more months until christmas to work on it.

I wont buy this beacuse it will porberly be as shit as generals and have nothing todo with red alert.

no wonder there is war in the world - i rest my case.

isnt this a part of THE pessimist ISO rulebook?

§12 - "i refuse to buy [the product] of the reason that i presume it will be exactly like something [the producer has made before] which i am not hesitant to declare was inadequate."
§13 - "- [the product] will not be a true copy of the original/is not produced by the exact same [creator] which i find insulting -"

as far as im concerned, the people behind the command and conquer games have a certain "learning curve" each time they start on a new engine. tiberian sun-> red alert 2 is a good example of this.
generals->[BFME]->ra3 might be the same. the more they play around with an engine, the more they understand what they can do with it, and what limitations they have.

the biggest dissapointment i can imagine right now would be the fact that Frank klepacki most likely won't make the music (reason nr 1, he didnt do it for them in generals, most likely because EA bought westwood up(can't blame him). and reason nr 2: he is making music for petroglyphs Star wars RTS)

We are very proud to announce that the team that brought you Command & Conquer™ Red Alert 2™, Command & Conquer™ Yuri's Revenge, and Command & Conquer™ Generals has officially started work on our next project set in the Red Alert universe!

Looking at his sentence closer, and seeing that there is no TD, TS, RA1 nor Renegade mentioned. LoL, what did EA do to the great Command & Conquer... I wish RA3 won't be a crap like Generals or Zero Hour is :)

They havent mentioned the other games, because Mark Skaggs was originally from Westwood/EA Pacific team which only worked on RA2, YR and Generals. Westwood from Las Vegas worked on TD, RA1, TS and Renegade.

Apollo just made me think, are we going to get cool FMVs this time or shoddy Generals in game movies.

LOL whys that flak? It will be rating 15 like always, i expect.

Anyway this is good news. I hope they do a good job of it and not make a mess like they did with generals. Another game i can start planning to mod heh.
