Hey guys, I was wondering, after I played the contra_005 mod, how do you change the menus?
The thing that interests me the most is the new check box for skirmish mode.
Also if i wanted to look for the animation files and other things aobut the unit/building creation like the shooting effects. Of everything in the game what would i look for


First you have to open the .big files, then most of the changes are in the ini files. animations are part o the models themselves (W3D files) 2D art and chages are made buy editing the TGA files

Between now and the next polished release there should be very little new art work done. Instead the focus is on designing, testing, and fixing. the mod has always been so close to finished that its nearly criminal. I'd love to see this through to the end with a real community effort.

BTW what in the game is defiened as 2d it all looks 3d to me

2d is the images u see in the upgrade buttens or the pictures of the vehicals and so forth.

Menus are stored in WND files. Those files are located in "Window" folder. I don't know how to edit them. I downloaded menus from somewhere long ago.

i have a mod that didn't work with modtoaster while there isn't a big file there but to many ini and audio files what should i patch to the big file [the ini and audio folder]

Would spectaor not work and you can then scroll around and turn the camra and zoon in and out anyway right?
And there was one i think on the filefront general website... but idk if u can use it with a mod, and when u mess with generals zoom being out more it makes black edges and stuff start appering round the sides.

Well u can have any intro you want providing its the right codex i beleave and named and put in the right place in generals. Mods do have them sometimes so u could... i not sure what u edit or watever tho.

ok for paradrop3 USA i wanted to make an aurora eject/drop 2 pathfinders but when i tryed to do that the game messed up what i did is take the cargoplane and change its art things to that of the aurora and named it cargoplaneA and put that as the delivery guy but that doesnt work can someone help me out

When does it crash, at start up? or when you use the power?

check the error log.

Also, run WorldBuilder, it can narrow down specific crash causes very well.

make 100% sure you have only ONE default conditionstate. Also, make sure there is no "normal" conditionstate if you are using default.

you don't open it fpr direct editing. Instead you use worldbuilder to edit them.
