there was a plan not to have any at all, but to instead make necron frigates and cruisers more powerful, not sure if its still the case or not, but it should be, otherwise all of the same would be far too alike for my liking, so it would spice things up a bit :)

maybe there should be a space scarab that plays as a fighter and bomber for them since there not trained pliots. and space battles are not as fun if theres no fighters on both sides of the battle

they'll use the dirge as a sort of oversized fighter, or gunship if you wish. Why have small crafts that are easily destroyed when you can have big lumps of death flying around.

the necrons don't bother with silly things like little space ships or boarding craft or crap like that

they just fly to the enemy ship and teleport right in.

The Necrons don't need figthers and bombers, thier ships are so powerful there not needed, plus the lightning towers would have no trouble targeting fast moving figthers.

Make the smallest ship the fastest and make it the "basic" unit. If necrons are encountered in space battles they should almost all have a sort of "tractor beam" except when it drags them in it starts destroying the ship from the inside, like the ship just starts losing health out of nowhere.

you have all of the necron ships, so make the dirge the first choice, make the jackal the second, shroud the third, scythe the fourth and cairn the "star destroyer" type ship. i dont really think there will be any need to waste good necron soldiers by putting them inside weak wimpy little fighters.

Instead of a Tractor beem they should have some special teleporters that go through shields.

Speaking on Space Combat what is the proceedure on borading? Is it like a Hit and Run torpedo that causes damage while ignoring shields?

some of the more deranged factions (namely orks) use "boarding torpedoes" which are little more than torpedoes full of troops. The imperials use shark assault boats which are kinda armoured wedges that slam through the enemy ships hull, then latch on, open doors and empty out the storm troops :p

Different factions use variants of that kinda method...

Another method is teleportation that can only be done within 10cm I think (in the tt game BFG). By this method the ship just teleports in their troops and as a result can avoid having them blown to bits by turrets on the way in...

Necrons would either use that method, or say "fuck that, we'll just blow the ship up."

Also some ships are more boardable than others... for example... you'd have to be a special kind of screwed in the head to board a space marine vessel. Boarding a tyranid vessel would be equally pointless as you'd probably just get eaten by the ship, or end up in its blood stream or something.

Necrons don't fuck about with boarders, their technology is probably too hardcore for boarding to be possible :grin:

well you can board nid ships.. they're like living carriers.. with cocoons and shit and nids everywhere... but its still pretty much suicide really :dry:

too many people overestimate the strength of the Necrons. They are the slowest moving force ever. Even turtles are more capable in conquering universes. There ships as well can be out gunned fairly easily. It also takes thousands of years for a monolith to even Res an entire army/fleet.
