USSR had many different projects of military aircrafts: LFI (light frontline fighter), MFI (multifunctional fighter), MFP (multifunctional interceptor) and others. These projects were carried out with competition basis. Two design and development bureaus - MiG and Sukhoi were competitors in the most of these projects.

Thus, there is MiG MFI (aka MiG 1.42 and MiG 1.44) and Sukhoi MFI (aka S-37 and Su-47)
There is MiG LFI (aka I-2000) and Sukhoi LFI (aka S-57)
There is MiG MFP (designation is unknown) and Sukhoi MFP (aka Su-41)

Russia canceled all these projects and began new PAK-FA project. Yet again, MiG and Sukhoy are competitors. There is MiG PAK-FA (aka MiG-1.27 and LMFS) and Sukhoi PAK-FA (aka I-21).

By the way, unfinished I-2000 project had been sold to Iran and renamed to Shafaq
