For either the US how about a soilder w/ a anti armor sniper rifle for eliminating armored targets. It would be sort of like a pathfinder that can only attack vehicles and would be able to kill light vehicles with one or two shots, and tanks with quite a few more. He would have something like an IWS200.

As handy as it is, to me that's never seemed realistic to me. How many tanks in real life get sniped sucessfuly. If there's a machine gunner or commander up on the top of an open hatch of the turret, Yes.

The driver, No (unless he's stupid enough to be driving with the drivers hatch open, with his head sticking out).

I say leave that special ability in the game to Jarmen Kell.

or we can have the sniper have a .50 cal sniper configuration that just knocks down armor health until its destruction, and in like 1 in 10 chance that it gets a pilot kill.

just a suggestion! The chinese snipers (the last time i checked-not in a while!) have a slow but effective pilot kill option and the GLA have Jarmel Kell. How about if the US pathfinders have a special anti armor ability of their own?

Laser lock is fine as an Anti-Armor ability for me.

Sort of liking this idea. AP HE sniper ammo. Don't know if it could ever be coded that way in Generals/Zero Hour. But I like it, anyway. :thumbsup:

I took out a tank with a Anti-Armor rifle in Mercenares but it took like 15 shots b4 i blew up :rolleyes: .

that is quite likely since if the protective layer of the tank is breached and the gasoline explodes....

So if we can somehow code so that only if the sniper hits the rear of the tank it will destroy it

Or like jarmen kell make it a special attack that needs to recharge after u use it like 1 min then u can use it again.

yea thats wut i mean like the chinese sniper shooting once and recharging for about half a minute or so...that would balance some stuff out :p

Just one problem with your "Hit the fuel tank" Idea. The sniper rifle can fire rounds at amazing speeds, as everyone knows. But everyone also knows that tank armor is well over 3 inches on even some of the lightest tanks. So how, do I ask, can a small bullet the size of a marble penetrate 3 or more inches of a steel-titanium metal plating? Unless it was a rail gun being held by him, it couldn't. Besides, VG won't have it because of ZH Reborn. I rest my case. *THUD!*

00 Nobody: alright, just one more comment before closing off that issue.
We were suggesting there would be an upgrade that enables the pathfinder to use .50 caliber AP HE rounds. Of course, a couple well placed shots of that beast can probably penetrate a fuel tank and like I said, snipers are never always accurate so I thought if there would be about 1 in 3 chances of success.

And you know how these discussion threads are, most the ideas never really make it into the real game so I say we could discuss it all we want as long as it pretains to the topic.

Thank you delta for that insight as that was the idea of this topic. How about a Stryker ICV It would be sort of like the china Troop Crawler but have a 60mm gun to defend its self and it would carry 8 troops. It would be fast, able to traverse water but have "lighter" armor than the bradley.

@00, that's not a bad idea, a man with a rail gun... actually it probably is cos he'd be way too overpowered. ah well, it'd still be cool. ^_^

Also, the Stryker would be cool but it would have to replace the bradley because it's just the same but better.
