Introducing... Wii.

As in "we."

While the code-name Revolution expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer. Wii will break down that wall that seperates videogame players from everybody else. Wii will put people more in touch with their games... and each other. But you're probably asking: What does the name mean?

Wii sounds like "we," which emphasizes the console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.

Wii has a distinctive "ii" spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people playing it. And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of videogames that sets it apart from the crowd.

So that's Wii. But now Nintendo needs you. Because it's really not about you or me. It's about Wii. And together, Wii will change everything.

But, you have to remember, what is the biggest market for video games, language-wise? English-speaking countries. We will all get the joke, while the other (guess-timated) 35% of gamers wonder, "WTF is up with them?".

Don't judge a book by it's cover, or a console by it's name. Simple as that.

If it's good, I'll get it. If it sucks, I'll get something else. I don't care if it's called the Nintendo Masturbation as long as it's good (the system, not the... oh nevermind).

Sorry, I didn't say what I wanted to say. I meant that with 65% of gamers speaking varying forms of English, that there will be a lot of Nintendo haters who would understand what the name sounds like, giving them all the more reason to bash on Nintendo. I'm not saying that everyone would be bothered by the name, I was saying that quite a few people would then bash on Nintendo for that small reason.

I liked the codename better. This is kinda pleh... still getting one but damn, this is a silly name.

offcource this wont change anything in the quality, but I wonder wether it will attract non-Nintendoids. I mean, the name sounds stupid, not very attractive to buy. And Brand name means a lot for sales, and I wonder wether Wii will make a good brand name.

Anyway. I know the name doesn't change the quality, but if you renamed 'vanilla icecream' to 'shit icecream', people probably aren't going to be so interested in buying it.

I'm not a Nintendo fan, particularly, as you're well aware. They make fantastic handhelds, but they don't have anything that interests me much. Non-games are not my bag. But a name pronounced 'wee' is really asking for the fanboys to rip it to shreds.

I could care less, personally, but I just KNOW they're gonna get some flak for this.
