well... finished...
I'm not too sure about FF7's story no more... to be honest, I enjoyed FF10's more... I think it's more logical and well written. There were some extraordinarily lame errors in the story that simply should not be there. They might, however, be solved in Advent Children, nevertheless, they should take more care.
Oh well.. the japanese tend to write moderately good stories... Tolkien pisses all over them however.

Aeris' death was a totally lame and pathetic emotion hook... I mean, there's nowhere in the story that claims specifically she has to go to that city to prey for holy... She couldhave done it anywhere, and it would only seem logical that a defence mechanism wouldn't be designed with huge flaws like that.. i.e. it would be possible to summon anywhere. She has also asked for a 'bodyguard' in the past, and is therefore should not be stupid enough to walk unaided into a deathtrap with convenient ledges for sephrioth to leap off... Not only this, but the holy thing actually helped the meteor to try and kill the earth, probably because it saw humanity as a greater threat.
She supposedly made the dubious choice of going to the city alone and thus dying to summon holy, which backstabbed the very thing tht it was meant to protect. As I said earlier, she has asked for guards in the past, and she certainly didn't expect death, so why didn't she request some protection...
Finally... the lifestream vanquished the meteor and holy, holy after all, was a creation of the cetra, not the planet and was certainly helping the ham the planet, and thus was an enemy to it.
Plus she was one of the more interesting characters in the game, alongside cloud, cid and cait sith... probably the most entertaining in the game. Yuffie was just a pain in the arse, tifa sucks, barret is alright, vincent is a bit dull and red is an alright character too.
When you kill a character, you must have justification, there must be a reason for their demise, where was the reason this time around? I still thing FF10 was better, I'll have to re-play it to be sure...
