The open passageway looks fairly innocuous, and is strangely in pristine condition despite the derelict exterior. The corridor is not well-lit, so you can't see what's at the other end. It appears to be a long oblong thing, but you don't know exactly what.

After a few moments, you find yourself standing in a completely empty white space of nothingness. Around you, you hear what sounds like wind-chimes. In front of you, you see a small sign of life. A few pillars, and what looks like a bed. You see a strange-shaped figure. Bipedal, the head has the look of a hammerhead shark, with the eyes out on googly stalks.
You are quite a way away from him, though. He doesn't look to have seen you yet.

"Hello. I am Polquan. It has been a long time since I have seen another face in here. I suppose you are the next hapless victim claimed by curiosity. Hee hee. Speak freely, whoever or whatever you are. As you can tell, while we may speak different languages, we can understand each other perfectly well."

"Since you want to leave, and I want to leave. the only fair way to do this is through a test of skill. I propose a mental test, since it's the fairest way. I don't know what your kind is good at, and you don't know what my kind is good at. Since we're both sentient, this makes sense. By the way, you can't kill me, but physical harm will only make me not want to let you go, even if you win. We will each tell and answer riddles. First to get one wrong loses. Do you accept the challenge?"

When you look in my face,
I will look you in the eye
And I will never lie
What am I?
