Ok,

I need a brainstorm of ideas,

of what i can add to Isengard and Mordor that has not yet been done before,
Or you just want it in there.

Something reasonbly tolkenish, nothing outlandish.

Try to go by the books.

How about some additions to the spell set (I dont remember what you have for Isengard already)...?

In my mod, I have avoided the Word of Power guff that everybody seems to go for (which is definitely not Sarumanish in my opinion).

Instead, at level 10 he can summon a snow storm that negatively affects enemy heroes/units, and a nifty Rain of Fire power at level 8 I created a while back - there's a thread on it somewhere with some discussions between myself and Tobi.

Also, I have a power called "Orthanc" that is basically a version of Gandalf the white for Saruman... it halfs the recharge time for all his powers, adds health and increases spell damage. I made it available for 6 points (removed fuel the fires entirely).

Cheers,

Hebblewhite.

That Orthanc power would be more suitable if it was named "Saruman of Many Colours" or "Saruman Ring Maker". I prefer the colour one, but I know that's been used before, hence why I suggested the ring maker.

As for more ideas...I can't think of any atm. If you were asking for ideas for Gondor/Rohan you'd be bombarded by a huge list right about now, but I don't have many ideas for the evil sides, except maybe expanding on the Dunlander/Easterling/Haradrim influence.

Playing games? Ah, you'll never be a good modder if you get involved in actually playing them!

Hmmm. I like "Saruman Ring Maker", it has a nice ring to it. :)

As far as other ideas go: You could possibly add some sort of scout unit for quicker map domination/expansion early on in games (but I reckon doing things like that dangerously affects the balance of the game).

In my mod, Isengard can build a "Dunlend Camp" at economy plots as well as the usual lumber/meat pits. From there you can obviously recruit Dunlend Raiders.

Also, I would consider changing Ugluks "Supper" power name to "Orc-Draught" (which in the books is the substance used by him to give merry and pippin a boost whilst running across the country). I think that fits in nicely with his heal ability.

Just some food for thought!

... .... ...lol... good word usage there Hebblewhite :) :p

I like the saruman ring maker idea, it'd be a nice way to make him better later in the game.

Zimoo, might as well bombard them with your Gondor/Rohan ideas now before you forget... maybe in a new thread though so as to not mess up this thread :p

Btw, I'm going to rename this thread's topic so as to better reflect the thread.

Argh so many people spell/speak my name incorrectly :(. I get loads of people coming up to me in RL and calling me "zimmo" :p

Anyway, I won't be forgetting my Gondor/Rohan ideas in a hurry, I'm re-reading ROTK again atm (just read about the passing of the grey company :p ). I'll try to make a list sometime soon.

I was just thinking...

In my mod, Mordor and Isengard can build task master units from lumber mills. When built they provide a speed, armour and economy bonus to worker units.

Currently, you can't have more than 3 of them (and they take 10 command points each)... but I haven't had much of a chance to play test for balance - I imagine it will be reduced if anything!

Sounds like a great idea to me.

BTW, where are your current Rohan/Gondor tech trees? Cause I don't want to end up pretty much duplicating your current lists

I still had that Idea for gollum.

It's technically a track power, where I had a full army and was marching in to attack my opponent when all of a sudden he sends out a Lvl 10 Gandalf and wipes almost my whole army out before I could get away or plan to send some Nazgul ahead.

He tracks any unit on the field for a limited amount of time, so you don't get surprised, it would probably be like a change unit control power, but with out controlling them, just seeing them.

Also maybe a steal resources power, he is stationed near a production building and steals the resources they receive from it.
Because he is supposedly good at stealing and remember he steals and throws away the food Sam and Frodo have to make them split up and weaken.

I've been thinking (not too hard, I promise!).

How about a spell for Mordor that summons the easterling forces such as mumakil (between 3 and 5 maybe) with temporary lifetimes. Or a whole bunch of ground based infantry. The spell could be available for 8 or 10 points... maybe more.

Not sure how this would affect game balance though....

<Checks GothmogtheOrcs site again> Ahhh yes. Silly me!

Comment:

Although I like Gothmogs (the character, not the famous modder :p ) leadership ability, I'm not sure why he can summon loads of easterling forces. Would it not be more fitting to let him summon siege machinery ?

OK. More of a South, South, East then! But I guess it depends on exactly which part of the Harad-esque region the Mumaks came from!

There's actually a spot in the books where Tolkien says that Gothmog sent in hordes of Easterlings and men from the south into the battle at Pelegir/Pelennor in an attempt to turn the tide against the Rohirrim. This was after the WK was killed obviously.

That little bit gave me the idea for the power since Mordor's spell book was already pretty good and I needed idea's for gothmog's powers.
