Tough to say, as historically trebs weren't really used as a defensive measure, let alone on a wall.

Well I'm just thinking cause the treb designs were taken from the ones at Minas Tirith. MT with those huge catapults will be amazing, if its possible.

Very true.

Changing the subject a bit, what does everything think the ability for the wainriders is? Is it kind of like a charge ability, like the Mumakils?

I think we talked about that and yeah it's probably a trample ability or even a glorious charge ability that buffs up the armour and damage of nearby charriots.

Fair enough. Continuing with discussions, will the Mirkwood harsovi be able to combine with other battalions, as an attached-healer, behind the fighters who protect her?

Also - sorry about all the questions, but I feel they help start good discussions - I was reading the general descriptions for the new factions (I know, I'm a total loser), and I came across this in the Erebor description: "Special defensive formations make the Erebor infantry even more resistent to enemy ranged attacks and will drive the enemy into close combat." Does this mean they will have something like the turtle formation, with shields raised?

What are the castle-trebuchets going to look like though? Because if they are improved then it may help turtlers. BTW I dont actually know the answer to this.

I would say they would be the same. There wouldn't be much need to make the two different. And Gondor usually turtles, so upgrading the trebuchets will compliment that strategy.

Tough to say, as historically trebs weren't really used as a defensive measure, let alone on a wall.

They might've been used in that manner, but that's highly unlikely. Tolkien's idea with this is exceptional in terms of strategy.

I think that the Harsovi will be able to combine with other battalions, but maybe I'm just taking this from the Elven Alliance. And yeah, that statement about the Dwarves would point to that, and I hope they do, as well as some other formations giving different bonuses.

Yeah that'd be really cool having different formations than box, and porcupine, which didn't look like a porcupine at all. Also I got two questions, One is will the dwarves have tower shields like Gondor, bucklers, some other type of shield I didn't list, or no shields at all? Second is, is the game going to have new movies for the beginning of levels, and the intro?

I have no idea how many questions I can think up in one night but I just found another one. In the picture of the Guard of the Fountain it has a picture with what looks like a symbol for "leadership", is it? If it is I definately didn't see that one comin'

To your question about shields, the different varieties or dwarvish units will probably have and equal variety of shields and weapons. The leadership thing you asked about is a good question, I also wondered that. Perhaps because the Guards of the Fountain Court were such a regal and powerful symbol of Gondor's greatness that they have a mini leadership of their own?

Apart from the Citadel Guards (or perhaps they were above their status, either way) they were regarded as the most prestige and elite warriors in all of Gondor. The original game didn't portray them as they should've been.

And to your question about the Dwarven shields, my guess is that they'll have a unit that'll have a big tower shields, and they'll be a real tough, defensive unit.

To the locals and outsiders alike, the sight of the Fountain Guards show a glimpse of the glory of Numenor long lost in the waves.

You know in the battles of gondor mod, they've already started releasing bits or versions of their Mod. So one could get a glimpse of whats to come. My question is this: Is the RA mod going to be released bit by bit like Battles of Gondor until you finally have the completed version. Or will it be released when all the work is over and done?

When all factions are done. Then subsequent releases will sort out bugs and balance issues. Campaign will be added at an unknown time, could be an update but could be in the initial release.

Is the leadership for the fountain court guards something to do with denethor? he can only leave the fortress with some guards so maybe this is symbolizing that

Nah, I doubt it'll be that. If anything it should be the other way around; Denethor will give leadership to the Guards of the Fountain Court. But I think their leaderhsip is going to be something like a defensive and/or experience bonus, or maybe a damage bonus.

King Earnur you might as well register. ;) You've been posting so much in these forums lately, so why not?

I think their leadership is more like... giving Denethor a 10% defense bonus or something... Or they give a fear-immune thing to others.... dunno..
