I have noticed the lackluster reactions to base attacks vs another AI, normally I would react immediatly to terminate the threats. Also, I don't see the Nod AI using shredder turrets very often at all, usually lasers.

All this can be rectified if I had access to the scripts but I can't. I would address such problems as a single AI project to which all forthcoming C&C3 mods would have access to. I believe such changes are easy to implement but be massively effective.

What about other AI problems I've come across? I've come across a Nod harvester unloading into the side of a refinery at least twice, and seeing some active (being used) turrets firing, but not facing the direction of the enemy.

Which was AI vs AI

Yes I've seen that about Harvestors.. bug obviously.

I'm more concerned about getting a balanced AI to tech properly and get higher tier sh*t out. Takes too long. Further... HE REALLY NEEDS to build enemy-facing base defenses and set them up based on the attacker type. Can't stand seeing defenses in the middle of his base or sticking a Power Gen on the periphery of his base. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Hmm something i would like to help you work out, How would we go about making the AI Build bases all around the map and i dont mean small defenses posts for refinarys i mean for a base away from command post so that they set up 2 - 3 Factorys around that post to send tanks from all directions and also use Scrin to use worm holes because i have not seen them use that

C&C3 Tools = LIFE!

Without tools, we can do d*ck. :(

Thus, we wait and play with formage AI.

Btw, I finally played a 2vs2 Me(GDI)+GDI(Hard-Rusher) vs Nod+Nod(Both Hard-Balanced) and wow what a game! We won too. My ally preformed well to NOT get owned and I got my Mammies northward to eliminate the first Nod player (although where the hell were the Stealth Gens, Nod AI?!?!) then guss what freaked me out?

As I was taking out the Nod's second base, the Nod AI snuck in the Nod Hero unit and systematically started demoing all my buildings! WoW! Amazing! I was both super-pissed and impressed. So I took her out once but then though "nahh.. she won't come down again". But yep.. she did and I lost almost everything except.. esshh.. my Vehicle Factory to which it was covered with my units by now.

Needless to say, I had to Elite-level Mammies in the back of the second Nod's AI base and once you have the highest ranking Mammies on the battlefield MY GAWD.. they are god-like. Love this game and how more difficult it is to "level up" units. Looks cool when high-levelled units fire and do different things.

So yep we won but the AI, both ally and foe, preformed super well. Still some issues like no Stealth Gens, Temple of Nod was near the middle of the map (agghhhhh!) but still happy indeed.

We need to update this AI.. we can do it.

Yes, the AI is so incredible it almost has me crapping my pants the first time, then the second time it hardly builds squat and gets mowed down. I'm hoping this is a bug that can be easily fixed by some AI-editing and is not a fault in the game code...

Again.. I don't experience this as I don't choose Balanced or Random for my AI allies. However, don't expect to win if you choose Hard for the AI allies and Brutal for your enemies. OMG the slaughter! Never seen so many infantry/Scorp tanks. Ughhh!!

I noticed once, in an online game with one of my friends against some AIs, one of them built a Temple of Nod in the middle of the map, right next to one of my Sonic Emitters, which just took it down in a few shots.

It seems to be like the other C&Cs, the AI will just look for an available build location, and build it, rather than take into account stuff like proximity to enemies, or proximity to its own base defenses. So much for a supposedly heuristic AI.

Yes but it can be enhanced greatly. If I was on the beta team this would never EVER would have been overlooked.

Btw, found something hilarious..

- Start a Skirmish Game on any 1vs1 map
- Make the AI as part of your team.
- Start Game
- Anyone notice something kinda, well, bizzare? The game keeps playing without you winning. What the.. ?

Might be another way to check build orders for the AI but wow.. thought the game would have checked for same team starts? Running v1.03 patch.

No but wait.. your game condition was FFA. This is a simply 1+1 and NOT 1vs1. Try it.. its seems VERY peculiar to have the game allow this. Doesn't make any sense to have an all ally game does it?

You can also start a game with no AI players whatsoever, just you on your own. This is something that's been in every SAGE game so far.

U can? Damn thats dumb! I mean.. I don't mind it as it allows for better testing in future but seems illogical and a hole in the game design.

I guess that way you can explore the map in peace, learn basebuilding ( ) and test out all kinds of units and powers...
Though I'd rather have an easy AI to do stuff like that.

EDIT: I moved this topic to the modding forum, as this clearly deals with editing :D

too long didnt read the whole thread and i havent played CnC3s final version so i dont know if its possible here.

but Zero hour i set up Ai Vs Ai only game by playing a 3 player Free for all and i just quit. this throws me into observer mode and allows me to see the ai in action live against each other. maybe you guys should try this out in CnC3 and see if this works.
