hi everyone,

i've got an idea for a mod but i don't know if i should try to create it or just forget about it.
it has nothing to do with The movies or Tolkien's work. it's purely my imagination :blush:

this is the idea:

i want to make a very though to play faction in the game. it's though to play and to defeat.
and i want to improve the AI of the other factions.

new Faction:

---Race---
Taralomian

---Story---
this ancient race once lived in middle-earth and was exploiting the lands. the elves started war to save the just born men. Men weren't capable of defending themselves. after long battles the elves were capable of pushing the Taralomians back to the sea where a great lord who controlled fire fought against a lot of elves until he could no longer stand and retreated overseas.

that ancient Race found three isle's which they Named: Shaowd, Ring and Telumehtar.
from their isles they prepared another attack upon middle-earth. but thanks to problems with native men upon their isles the invasion had to wait.

Sauron who knew about this race sought their allegiance in the Third Age. after a year they responded and started to prepare a massive armada. Sauron was defeated... But the armies of the Taralomians were preparing for the great invasion.

Now they are in middle earth...

Khurudrim (Basic Swordsmen 'people of the Fire')
Tekhurutian ( Spearmen 'fire sentinel')
Ring Raiders (Archers with magical attributes)
Ring Mages* (siege/spellcaster)
Khudralin (swordsmen)
Tharakhun (strong warriors with fire abilities 'torch Enemies')
Thukradun (strong archers with fire abilities 'Dark Arrow')
Shaowdrim (assassin 'people of night')
Thurekhthrun (Cavalry Units)
Makhurutian (elite bodyguard units)

King: Taralom (cost 8000 resources or something like that

Princess: Dienna (cost 3000 resources

Captain of Black Guard: Narkhad (4000 resources Dark Men appearance)

Female Shaowdrim Assassin Hero: Shekhash (2500 resources)

Ring Chieftan: Raven ( 5000 resources)

God Fire Demon: Khurthala (Summoned)

Burning spirits ---> increases attack of several heroes
Fuel the Fires ---> extra resource output
Burn enemies ---> severly damages enemies
Red Darkness ---> just like Darkness but with negative effects for the enemy
Balrog ---> Summon Balrog (might be Changed in Khurthala)

i would want to edit the existing campaign and perhaps even make a new one to follow the storyline that i made up.

and then there is the decision: should i make it for BFME or BFME2??
i think it will be BFME2 so i can make a new array of Ships

the things that i need are: modellers, skinners, mappers, lots of lessons.

please post your answer. i don't know what to do with this idea.

seems like a nice story, original :p if you have the skills and motivation, go ahead and turn into a mod

be careful though. in some places, "screwing" with the works of tolkien like that can get you killed ;)

I'd remove the prehistory, and just make it an original mod with an original story, it doesn't have to be a TC, but it doesn't have to 'fit' in Middle-earth anyways... :)

I actually like this, and would probably look into playing it if you ever finish... (trust me, I seldom play BFME mods or no mods)

Hmm... its been a while since I've seen a game where a major antagonist is female (*cough*Starcraft*cough*) That seems to be quite original.

When making up evil names, remember the 'evil' sounds, Tolkien used them alot... 'k' 'u' 't' 'g' 'z' 'b' 'd'... 'L' works sometimes but you have to be careful as 'L' and 'n' are very elvish...

Maybe race name: Turkhalians (name means servants of fire: [Tuh/Tekh = fire] + [khu = slave/servant]

Islands: Shaowd (sounds stealthy), Ring (sounds sorcery), Tekhumetan (sounds fire-demony)

---Heroes---

King: Turakhon (name means master of fire slaves: [Tuh/Tekh = fire] + [rah/rekh = master] + [khu = slave/servant]

Princess: Khurien (name means slave-keeper: [khu = slave/servant] + [rhien = keeper/holder] )

Captain of Black Guard: Gurokhad (troll/ogre appearance) (name means killer beast: [gurkh = beast] + [khadha/khasha = kill/slay]

Female Shaowdan Assassin Hero: Shekhash (made up the name first, then decided it would be better suited to a female :p ) (name means killer woman [shekh/shekha = woman] + [khadha/khasha = kill/slay]

Ring Chieftan: Ugrukh (sort of shaman feel) (name means master of sorcery: [ughet\ugekh = sorcery/magic] + [rah/rekh = master]

Tekhumetian Demon: Khurthala (could be a big part of story) (name means slaver god: [khu = slave/servant] + [thelah = god/demon]

i really appreciate you help.

Race: i think that is quite a research you've done for me :p i'll think it over.

isle's: Tekhumetan is what you suggested, i chose Telumehtar because it's elvish for Orion
and it doesn't has to sound evil always. but i'll put everything in a document and read it through once.

--heroes--

1. don't you think something like Thurekh is better?? master of Fire??

2. well, i don't actually want everyone to be a slave or something like that. so i'll have to found the word for Daughter or Princess.

3. Gurokhad. i like the name, although a troll/ogre isn't the idea i had for this faction. i want a faction which is men / elvish and evil at the same time. please tell me if i make a mistake with it.

4. shekhash, a hero which could be in. although i think it would be a stealthed hero with strong attacks which take a while to reload. although she can easily be defeated because it would be though to become stealthed in a heavy armor

5. what about making this a unit to heal others with dark sorcery??

6. and i think this would be a great spell like the Balrog

i like all of the new names.
there's just one thing: if there is one isle called Shaowd, i'd name the swordsmen Shaowdrim
[shaowd (the isle) + rim (means people ''Galadh-rim'' which means people of the trees)]

and what i meant about the new building for heroes. i was thinking of calling it Hero dome or Hero Vault

Urm... I made the vocabulary up! ;)

I was thinking that as it is an evil race they are servants/slaves of fire... Also When I hear Shaowd I think stealth, and that doesn't work for basic swordsmen :p

Also if the people are the servants of fire why shouldn't the king be master of fire servants/slaves (used interchangeably)

Let me see... I'll make a mini-dictionary for words that may be useful...

and i'll be editing the main post when i get new names for buildings and ideas.

and i think i will use BFME2.
i can edit the strength of buildings and units there and i think it already has some useful things in.
(i want the Heavy knight to be riders upon Black Fire Drakes.)

i'm starting to make the pictures of the warriors.
i've decided it is going to be BFME2, because of the possibilities i have when modding it.
i'm still a newb to modding so don't get too excited about it.

If you have a lot of free time and you set your mind to it, you will be a good modder in no time (took me only a month to get hosted) Practice makes perfect though, I've made dozens of skins, and I am getting better each time, that does not count the random graphics I do on the side! :ninja:

i voted yes, for the plain reason that it is your decision- if you wanna make the mod go ahead.

And also, just some advice that you can choose to take or not take-

people here are tolkien fans. They will keep attempting to completely convert your idea into the story of tolkien. I took zimoo's advice and chose to take suggestions that i thought would be a good idea, but don't take all suggestions just because you want people to like your mod. do what YOU want to do. If you like a suggestion a person gives you, then take it. Its all up to you.

I like Ideas that differ from Lord of the Rings (Total Conversions) Hence The penguin mod.

progress thus far.

we are designing the island's and will start when we have finished it.
i am beginning to design the heroes.

island's:

Shaowd: plains / Capital island

Ring: Vulcano / Fortress

Telumehtar: cliffs / city

any suggestions of what we should base the Culture upon?? (buildings etc.)
