I know you have this panned out.

Shaowd- Should be similar to samurai, or ninjas. Maybe some magic people (Shamans).

Ring- I was thinking like a Greek type society, but more centered around Lava/Volcanos and lavas.

Telumehtar- Maybe similar to the Dwarves that mine, but resemble Native americans of Latin America, (Maya/Aztec)

Well, I hope this mod goes well.

I think that they should be on neither good, nor evil, and they should get a new ring hero etc...

but the mod is about a new faction which invades Middle-earth...

but we haven't started skinning or moddeling yet.

only some palantir images and some designing.

Mod looks nice, might I suggest you give your buildings a sort of royale and roman feel about them, not too much just a sort of hint. I do very much like your ideas and get the feeling that your race should have quite a rich culture behind it (not that you have to go into details of it just the feeling should be there when looking at the buildings, great halls and majestic palaces and such).

I just had an idea and i'm wondering what you think. I was thinking some kinda of sorcerer units in the place of builders to "summon" buildings into existance and also instead of buying the heros I was also thinking of having sorcerers that can create and sustain sort of mini heros like say a fire demon and such. If the sorcerers die the demon dies I'm not sure how to do this yet but If you like the idea I feel quite sure it can be done.

well i was still thinking of how i should let the buildings be made.
i was thinking of such a thing but with some adjustments.

1. the land where it's being built is covered in flames first (then the buildings gets built, just like the dust in the real game)
2. the ground where it's built on will be black for a while after that.

I agree for the moment, LOTR factions should be left in until we have finnished this faction then if needed we can start changing them afterwards, I just had an interesting Idea, 4 elemental factions, fire, water, air and earth. could be interesting. Ring heros being 2 super elementals, fire and air get light, water and earth get dark.

Anyway yeah I think we leave it until these are finnished


Oh I had an idea about the king aswell, what if when he was built he came in a horde with his royale guard around him. I think hero hordes are possible. Basically his guard would be reasonably strong swordsmen and would never leave his side. I was thinking about animations and he could have a WOP type power which instead of blue magic was flames and the animation for the rest of the horde would be for them to duck.

Anyway yeah we should probbably meet on msn and talk about this stuff and get a tech tree going if you don't already.

Let me know when you have a concept for the fortress and I'll put it in game and have a look what cool flame effects I can take from the Balrog.


Edit: Oh yeah I was thinking

1) perhaps the units should have theyre faces covered except there eyes which should have a faint say golden glow? I was going to say red but thats a bit cheesy.

2) one of the powers should be a moveable black smoke which would hide your units inside it, I was thinking of this perhaps for one of the kings powers if he was in a horde.

3) All the units should have curved blades, scimitars and such, just thought it would fit nicely with the faction what do you two think?

4) we should see about getting our own forum so wer not cluttering up the general modding, perhaps you should speak to one of the Admins here Taralom and get it set up?

yes i was thinking about the elements too. but i can't find a way to add them.
at least fire is even in the normal world a sign of Evil (mostly thanks to religion and mythology) so that would be dark.

this was my idea

elves = Air (thanks to galadriel's powers)
Men = Water (the only race capable of sailing and returning to lands without the sea, and willingly to sail)
Dwarves = Earth (the halls under mountains

we are still concepting. if you want you can do the fortress sooner if you'd like. Just contact Nolis since he's designing the buildings. i'm doing the units and heroes and some maps.

1) well, red is definately not the color, it would make them look like devils. Golden glow is quite good i guess. perhaps something to discuss with Nolis and LotrFan2 upon msn. the email-adress is your msn adress too??

2) just like elven mists but without the bonusses and moveable. good idea. you can pick a name for it.

3) true, the main blade of the Shaowd Units will be Katana's thanks to the Japanese look of buildings.

4) well i was thinking of doing this as soon as i think we would have a reasonable amount of stuff ready, if an admin wants us to be out of this forum sooner he / she should tell me sooner.
