Legolas isn't one of the greatest fighters... he just has the advantage on his bow ;) he get's to kill before the others gets close ;) He had 17 when Gimli had 2, and Gimli still won ;) :p

First off, you overlook a ton of things. He owns with knifes too, so saying he just has advantage with the bow is false. And when he was against archers, you didn't see him doing down, instead you saw him dodge the arrows and then take out the archers. And the score they both got doesn't matter. Put legolas against Gimli and legolas would win.

not to mention he has been around for a wile lol if memory serves me correct he was a child during the 1st age *or the one where the last alliance was when isildur *sp* cut the ring from sarumans *sp* hand* so he has had a long time to learn how to fight with both knives and as well as be an amazing archer... hands down legolas would win the fight vs. gimli

Elves army consist of 60% Hobbits. This is ridiculas. Hobbits rarely do any fighting yet I am facinf down Armys of them in Skirmishs. The AI Never upgrades their Barracks. Isengard never updates their Uruk pit Either. But you proably already know about these 2 bugs.

Strider, the hobbits are spammed for the same reason that peasents are. They're cheap. It's no bug, but the AI likes to send those out because of how cheap they are. Thats what they do until they send out they're major army, which is fairly decent. It's no bug, it's just the wya AI plays it. But I do agree, it would be nice to see some decent armies from AI more often.

Yes, there where some serious bugs with the AI (not upgrading buildings, not building armies) but these will be solved in Beta 4.5.

Let's say, we gave (and are giving) them bugs some 'attention'. Since the stupid AI has a HighlanderBody, it will not die or be threatened, rather i'm trying to make it move like a bull shown a red piece of cloth.

Technically, this will not solve the 'bugs'. Only make it not matter.

Exactly

no, its not exactly. its not a simple change EA's code and it works. Its learning how EA coded it, which doesnt make sense, and doing the exact same thing as them. The AI is doing exactly what EA wants it to do.

Put legolas against Gimli and legolas would win.

I doubt it :p Of course, Legolas could be a wuss and run away and fire, but Gimli would've owned close combat ;)

:p Actually, I couldn't say who would win that fight... They're both great warriors ;)

I know... The AI's way of using units is really hard coded. The upgrades you speak of are known since a long time and often discussed in here. Sul has fixed them all by reactivating the BFME1 way where structures upgrade from XP, but we also kept the buyable upgrades too as really expensive choises =p

About Hobbits - I agree and they will be limited in number. I don't wanna see more than say 40-50 hobbits at a time :p The elven army should consist of Elves, not Hobbits. Hobbits should be support/addition, so it will be dealt with. We're still in the middle of the production, so many things are yet to be fixed and adjusted u know =)

the problem I see with hobbits is that there aren't enough of them to have a massing army of them, and they aren't strong enough to be elites. Perhaps they should be Inn-only....or not.

I like a lot of other mod's interpretations of Thranduil better than Bfme2's (RA, TEA). I don't know why EA made him a football player/archer. Unless they were SHOOTING for redundancy.
If I were you and you were me I'd have a different face.

- Hobbits are meant as small support units, cheap and fast...
- We have a better Thranduil model, but that would require totally new powers, and I'm not sure I want that (he would lose his bow).
- Cirdan is not known from the movies and I hardly remember him from the books either. IF elves gets any more heroes it would most likely be Elrond's twin sons...
- Golden Serpant... nah =p

I think a newer, cheap melee unit (scythe?) for the Elves would help keep the hobbit spamming at a minimal.

But that would leave Elves with only 2 "archers"... I think they should have three minimum (I'd like Elves to have the highest number of ranged heroes anyways). But the WoA model and skin for Thranduil would probably appeal to the Lore folks much better, yes =p

And I've also had second thoughts about adding more heroes, since they already have so many :/ (And I wanna keep the game from being hero based and make it more unit based - heroes should be support, not scud missiles. The most important thing is that we have "all" elven heroes known from the movies, and I think we do? =) I can't really think of any that is missing? But as I said before, if we ad any more, I think I'd like the sons of Elrond (can never remember their names without looking it up, lol), but I'm not sure... :s
