How about 3 or even 4 combos for orcs to make horde larger? That would rock if so many orcses would come to you at time :o But a better target for trebuchets, that for sure ;)

well, personally, I don't know much about the orcs... their already a large horde, and with their pretty straigth lines in the horde, I don't know how orcs of different weapons would fit ;) (like, 'Pikes in front, archers behind' doesn't mean they have to acctually attach)

i was just wundrin wether there will be archer rohirim and normal rohirim like in bfme or wether they will be toggle weapons like in bfme2 which was really diapointing, and would they be able to be combined for example with archers behind and the spears in front or like a longer line of just the regular rohirim for a something like a big charge

They will be separate, as this is BFME 1, plus it makes sense. We'll be trying to add more combos, although cavalry and foot spearmen dont go together IMO.

actually the spear/bow switching makes more sense in my opinion, but the balance is better when you can't switch them, so I like the bfme 1 version better

oh I didn't read that part very good xD, now my comment doesn't makes any sense. btw.. I think foot units should never combo with cavalry, but cavalry archers + normal cavalry would be cool.

But cavalry-archers combined with cavalry wouldn't make sense. Sure they would be able to keep up with each other, but the melee cavalry would be rendered useless (they are primarily used for trampling and raids IMO). To protect the cavalry-archers (seeing as they're vulnerable to swordsmen) you could just as well put foot soldiers; cavalry can trot at a footman's pace. That's the only instance a cavalry/footman combo would be logical IMO.

Not really. They do over swordsmen (they had higher hit-point values last time I checked), but they're crappy against archers and spearmen. Anyway, wouldn't such an advantage be beneficial to you if you had that unit combo? Just for argument's sake, I think it would be a good combo.

Cavalry have an advantage over archers while charging, I thought. Isn't cavalry the counter to archers as well as infantry?

From what I remember, archers launching arrows against cavalry is the advantage they have against them. Cavalry don't lose health while their trampling them like the do with spearmen. That would be plain stupid.

To Smeagolfan24: cavalry is the counter to all infantry types (except for spearmen and I think elites) when charging and trampling.

From the way the damage system works, the archers don't have a powerful crushrevenge damage, but cavalry have lower pierce armour so they're weaker against arrows.

Not sure whether any of this will change with RA.

I really don't do requests and my Arnor Soldier is not fit for BFME. Don't ask me for either.

i doubt it, the weapon armour systems always worked as far as i was concerned, rest assured that after balanceing and tweaking, the release version will be nicely balanced and above all, make sence

Gondor has a separate upgrade for shieulds whilst Rohirrim get shields automatically with the heavy armour upgrade. That's how it is currently and I doubt we'll change it.

I thought that the Rohirrim also had the option to purchase riding shields in BFME. ALthough I haven't played in quite some time so my memory is a bit fuzzy. Really is no point to playing until RA comes out, no offense to some of the other great mods but I tired of them.
the dude abides.
