No, no, they're not The Army of the Dead, they're not Ghosts. The Undead I talking about are Skeletons, Ghouls, and Liches, those who have a physical body.

Basically a here is what i think would work...

Skeletal Warriors- Basic Swordsmen, Damage: low, Armor: low, Health: moderate
Skeletal Bowmen- Basic Archers, Damage: moderate, Armor: low, Health: low
Spectral Guard- Basic Pikeman, Damage: moderate, Armor: moderate, Health: moderate
Ghoulish Riders- Basic Calvary, Damage: low, Armor: moderate, Health: high
*Wight Arrows- Elite Archers, Damage: moderate, Armor: high, Health: high
Lich- **Special, Damage: high, Armor: low, Health: moderate
Deathknight- Elite Swordsmen, Damage: high, Armor: high, Health: high
Internal Catapult- Siege Weapon, Damage: moderate, Armor: moderate, Health: high

***Neccasalmor- Hero, Damage: moderate, Armor: moderate, Health: moderate
****Ar-Pharazôn- Hero, Damage: high, Armor: moderate, Health: high
The Lich King- Hero, Damage: high, Armor: moderate, Health: moderate (No, I did not rip this off W.O.W.)
*****Lowanith- Hero, Damage: high, Armor: high, Health: high

* These Wights are not related the Barrow Wights, as these are just powerful Skeletons
** Liches are considered Mages like Angmar's Sorcerers, but do carry Staff weapons similar to Saruman
*** Neccasalmor means "Necromancer" in the Draconic language, the tongue of Dragons
**** Believe it or not, Ar-Pharazôn was the 25th & last King of Númenor
***** Lowanith means "Death Lord" in the Draconic language

So, what do you think?
:p No
;) Yes
;) Great

Yeah, I was just comparing the idea of the AotD because they are some of the only undead we see in LotR. There are also the Wraiths and Wights, I suppose, and the Dead Marshes stuff.

The Lich King? Really? :p

Sorry, best thing I could come up at the time. Besides, it sounds so good. Saying "Wraith King" or "Wight King" just doesn't have that "ping" you know what I mean?

One thing I would like would be a "extended campaign", like each faction has its own campaign and goals. (I know it sounds stupid, but It came to be two days ago.)

Goblins

Mission One: High Pass
Several elven battalions have come into High Pass to make a safe passage instead of crossing through Rohan. Eliminate them.

Mission Two: Moria
The dwarves of Moria of always given the goblins of High Pass trouble, its time to return the favor.

Mission Three: Iron Hills
The fool Gloin holds a foothold in the Iron Hills, lets "relieve" him of his duty.

Mission Four: Erebor
Long ago, the great dragon Smaug fell at the mountain of Erebor. It is time to bring him back.

Isengard

Mission One: Isengard
It is time to gibe the rise of the birth of a new empire, Isengard.

Mission Two: Eaves of Fangorn
The ents of Fangorn forest will be trouble if not dealt with, there will be a fire tonight...

Mission Three: Rohan
The refugees of Rohan are trying to escape to Helm's Deep, they won't get there...

Mission Four: Helm's Deep
There will be no escape for the people of Rohan.

Mordor

Mission One: Mount Doom
The hobbit "Frodo" has arrived at Mount Doom, save the Ring!

Mission Two: Osgiliath
The road to glory is a long one, there are multiple steps...

Mission Three: Minas Thirith
Destroying the last free kingdom of men will be one of the steps.

Mission Four: Shire
Sauron will destroy the home of the creature who attempted to kill him, the Shire.

I'd hate to speak out of line Raptor... but did you base these ideas off what you think people would like or what you would like? I see it as what the game already is, but just mixing units everywhere and changing faction names. I have the need to speak my mind on this. Can't you come up with completely new ideas? I see people using those old ideas all the time, and it's usually new people. You're new... and I put the two odds together. I want to spring you up to higher expectations right off the bat, and to end that cycle of people always wanting a hobbit faction.

this is about as new as i could get

1. remove narnia
2. only raptors or raptor-like animals in middle earth
3. new heroes units and minifactions
4. put monsters in pairs!

and yes this is an idea i think somebody other than i would want!

Hey, stop right there. You came up with that Narnia faction, yes? Instead of just mixing up the units we can use in the regular old game, why not make a mod dedicated to Narnia? That's what people like, a completely new experience with vastly different units and factions.

But since Christmas 2009, I've been playing Dragon Age Origins. Its pretty good overall, and I just got a crazy idea of a BFME Dragon age mod. Sounds stupid, doesn't it?

I find myself wanting to try a map.ini... If I thought for a second I'd be have time for it :)

Anyway.. I present "Brittania 1066". It would have three factions - the Norse, Anglo-Saxons, and Normans. This would be a historical mod, with the intent of recreating the battles of eleventh-century Britain, particularly the Battles of Stamford Bridge and Hastings.

The Norse would be a faction of individual units (spear-Danes, axe-Danes, and bow-Danes), who start off with great "natural" stats (health, move speed, line of sight etc) but not-so-great "artificial" stats (armour and weapons). This would require building up your economy over time through raid and trade to upgrade your Norse to be as well-armed and -armoured as your competitors. Hero would be Harald Sigurdson Hardada, King of Norway. The Norse can build longships, fast raiding ships able to garrison large numbers of units and also fire on enemies.

The Anglo-Saxons would have three types of units - the fyrd, huscarl, and thegn. The fyrd would be spammable peasants, the huscarls fighting as professional warriors, and thegns as single units, very difficult to take down. Their hero would be Harold Godwinson, King of Britain. The Anglo-Saxons would serve as a sort of 'middle ground' between the somewhat primitive Norse and the advanced Normans. Being on their own turf, the Anglo-Saxons have a good economy and large numbers in the fyrd. The Anglo-Saxons alone would have the ability to construct watch-towers and defensive ramparts.

The Normans would be very advanced in comparison to the other two factions, utilizing heavy cavalry and archers. Their units would be the best armed and armoured, though fewest in number. They'd have three main units - the Cavalrymen, the Bowmen, and the Infantrymen. The last would be spearmen with kite shields, able to toggle from a block to line formation. Their hero would be William, the Bastard Duke of Normandy.

A huge part of playing this mod would be strategy - placing your units in good positions, not committing them until the right moment, and staying out of reach of your enemies until the time is right to attack. Each faction has units that fulfill a certain function, and you'd only have the units you start out with, so it's very important that you plan everything you can in advance.

I'm thinking of introducing mercenaries near the area - Welsh longbowmen, Irish skirmishers, Scottish pikemen and Gothic light cavalry. They'd each have their own outpost on the map, in some region neutral to the various factions, where they could be fought over and purchased for large numbers of resources, adding their specialist units to the faction.

Each faction would have its own goals, such as for the Anglo-Saxons to repel their invaders, the Norse and Normans to capture Lundene, etc etc. A universal goal would be for each faction to keep its hero alive, as he is the only source of leadership buffs in each faction.

What do you think?
