Hmm still, it cant work like that, snice.

Earth doesnt have much fuel anymore, and I remember UC using things like gasoline and so on. Especially in 8th MS Team.

Where does the oil come from? and they had beam technology already, not just GN, but other weapons as well. they had linear gun tech, and in the beginning of UC they were back to machineguns.

So I really dont think so. Also, the Gundam 0 is probably a tribute to the original series, like how GSD had all those UC MSs but remodeled to look kickass.

The gundam 00 is probably just a hybrid between the new gundam designs and the older more traditional designs. Since the only Gundam designed by the original designer who made most of the Gundams. all the other 00 MSs are designed by someone else. I suspect that the Gundam 00 was a joint project since it displays signs of both.

The exact continuity doesn't have to line up perfectly. If the whole thing was built so that eventually the producers can say, ok this all leads to UC, thats what im asking about.

As for technology though, that can change. Assuming Turn A is canon, tho its not, then for some reason, you go from having all sorts of beam weaponry, and even beam shields in victory gundam, then in a later era, after colony for gundam wing, we're back to the mobile suit being designed all over again, with machine guns. So if they wanted it to, it can happen here. They can lose almost all of the older (arguably better in gundam 00) technology for some reason, maybe some sort of cataclysmic event, and end up where they have to develop it all over again (UC in this case).

Granted, there's that discrepancy about fuel sources. Though you could argue that there's still a certain amount left, which is why the middle eastern countries oppose the construction of the solar power system, because they actually still have oil to sell. If the solar array is preemptive, rather than a immediate necessity, there can be enough oil left for that shown in UC, where they didnt use that much of it anyway. Again, it doesnt have to click perfectly...cause gundam (some series more than others) has never been completely consistent.

Actually, i can say that about almost any franchise.

Oh yeah, and as for BSG, hell if i can get it in my country. Im a deviant because i dont watch our propaganda-laden nationality-based half-wit tv programmes and i like 'ang-mor' stuff like sci-fi. (that word being a derogatory for white people...which is especially derogatory when you consider that it also means foreigner and therefore implies everyone who isnt white and isnt from my country are beneath our notice...the government's not the only thing here with a problem...)

You know, all of these are basically alternate universt settings. UC was the original series, with many follow-up series after it. You can kinda say that V Gundam was kind of a follow up series, though for god knows how long, and apparently the quality of the unit which we call Gundam has degraded to that of a Strike Datter, being shot and lose a limb. and spare parts are no object, seems like a complete waste of money.

Wing takes place in an alternate universe. X can be argued to have taken place a very long time after UC maybe?

All the same names and so on that you see, I think are just tributes, I mean honestly, it'd be dumb to actually try to connect all of the series together, since then it'll lose all meaning that each of the series had. Especially Gundam 00, which is pointing out many of the problems that the world we live in has, and the impact that these problems could lead to in the future.

G Gundam, Gundam Wing, and Turn-A Gundam I think are basically alternate universe storied based on the Gundam Franchize. With Gundams in it, they pretty much explore other possibilities to see what other types of stories they can do with them.

As for the Fuel problem, once again, taking into consideration how much time the UC wars took up, I doubt that there'd be enough oil to have sustained it if it's just leftover oil in the Middle East. Besides, I'd like to think about the humorus concept that after thousands of years, oil drilling have become a lost technology, and someone discovers it saying, 'Hey Look, we can burn this stuff!'. that idea in itself is pretty funny.

I did say, assuming Turn A is canon. What im afraid of is that gundam 00 connects to UC because of UC's popularity in japan.

Nah, I doubt it.

The whole Gundam 0 looking like the RX-78 is probably a tribute.

First Gundam in UC.

First Gundam in AD.

They have been up on MAHQ for a little while now. Im actually really disappointed in all the designs. They have taken away everything that was original about the first ones and now they look like shit. Complete downgrades in my opinion.

I have some hope that they will look better in animation but not much.

yeah, other than the Gundam 00 itself, almost everything else looks so much worse.

Dynames 2 looks like it's made out of legos, seriously, the feet looks HORRIBLE. Virtue 2 looks ever more blocky than before, and now the huge cannons are gone replaced by 2 much smaller weapons, I wonder if there's still something inside of it lol. well, I guess Kyrios still looks ok for now, but even 00 doesnt look too great with the shoulder mounted GN drives. not only that, the 00's legs looks horrible now.

anyways, apparently the smaller cannons on Virtue 2's shoulders are supposed to be more powerful than before, and it also used 2 GN bazookas mounted in its massive legs.

Yeah, I know they already have official names, but I dont feel like it, also apparently Lockon is still alive? >.>0

It's probably his twin brother and they're using his code name still maybe, if not they better have a very good explanation of how he survived.

They never have a good explaination for why gundam heroes are still alive. I recall lots of examples...such as char in zeta getting blown to hell, and all the happy jesuses in seed.

In my opinion, there's nothing really wrong with the new designs other than they're trying too hard to connect back to the older gundam designs. But i think this was their intention all along so im pretty ok with it.

Lockon(Neil) is dead and is not going to be brought back. It was stated in a Newtype magazine article. Like corsec said its most likely his twin brother Lyle using the code name Lockon.

I suppose that makes sense, but for what reason would he have to actually join CB?

Well, I guess everything gets explained, it'd better...

looks like all the gundams now have mouth vents again, I actually enjoyed the new design concept where there was none, guess that was too good to stay...
