Ok so I have now finished changing out the textures I didnt like. With the exception of blending errors to fix I can move onto texturing like normal now. Ive tried to use lusher and darker colors to give a "wet" look to the terrain. Some of the yellow grasses and lighter dirt colors didnt give the right feel.

Still couldnt resist more changing. The film Bree seemed to have dirt roads inside the town, so Ive removed all pavement and sidewalks

Ill enjoy putting the trackways throughout the town.

Why don't you try to merge the pavement and sidewalks with the dirt . Surely Bree would have some parts of pavement ( In the movies is a lot of dirt because is raining ).

This map will have rain. I see what youre saying I just didnt like any of the pavement. Looking at the miniature of the Prancing Pony, theres no pavement. The buildings used for the town do have a pavement base, though some of them disappear because there is a gentle slope. This has also created a gap from the ground to the pavement which Im using a stone wall to create a built up foundation. See below:

Your map is a bit flat for Bree.

Depends how you look at it. Most of the film footage and set pics Ive seen, have a very gentle slope to the town, combined with camera angles it appears steeper than it really is.. While in the film there does appear to be a bit of a jump up toward the back of the town. Even with the gentle slope on my map Its created some interesting issues with the buildings being raised on one side and sunk in on the uphill side.

Oh dear me! It is looking wonderful! I don't think we can get the window lights on the houses. But I see something interesting happening with the fire posts.

I am thinking between the buildings it is a bit bare - maybe some gardens?

Yeah the whole town needs work, Ive got to go through and add retaining walls around the bases of structures where the foundations are elevated.

Glad you like it because... that kind of tedium gets old fast, and its slowing my progress on this map too.

I'm sure most will agree that it's the details that turn: "...hey, I played this cool map" into "Dude! You've got to check out this AWESOME map I just played!"

Embrace the Tedium!

I should, but part of my personality likes to push through to finish a project rather than get as many tiny details as I can into it. It does help when members put the reminders out there though, I like interacting with the community and feedback helps guide me and avoid my personality pitfalls.
