I think it all looks great! I can't wait to try the elves; excellent work, Rob!

I do agree that spears are better as a melee weapon for Mirkwood, though. Wasn't there a type of spear called a glave, which had a blade better suited to slashing? Maybe that would be something to go with.

Yeah, but there isn't much room to slash upwards and downwards in a thick forest like Mirkwood. Stabbing, thrusting, would be the way to go.

I see your point there. To clarify, though, I meant that a glave is just better at slashing than your average spear; it's still primarily a stab\thrust weapon. I thought it might be something a little different for Mirkwood.

I'd wait for 1.06 to come out before I pass judgement. It all looks incredible, however.
From what I know, I'd rather keep most units where they are but change strengths/weaknesses of the units themselves based on faction.
Rivendell, having the culture most similar to men, would possibly have the greatest numbers of troops per battallion and stronger buildings but also the highest prices. They would have strong cavalry and one or two decent infantry units.
Lorien would have, as has already been said, more of a "healthy balance". Heavy emphasis on archers and swordsmen.
Mirkwood would have, perhaps, the weakest buildings but the strongest troops for value, with excellent archers and elite swordsmen/spearmen.

I don't know what Rob plans to do with the Ring system but since it doesn't seem scheduled for 1.06 (I might be wrong) I'd put Frodo with the Elves until it is, while keeping Bilbo with the Dwarves.

That was it's main purpose, though. A battle line with spears outward would devastate cavalry. That's generally why cav was on the flanks, at least until your archers broke up the enemy formation.

Hi, i am new to this hole forum thing but, I just recently downloaded the RJ ROWTK mod but after i win the mission in Morria, i cant get the RJ war of the rings mode to work, every time i cluick on a mode it crashes almost three minuets latter while i am tryiong to pick which good faction to be. How do i solve this and if i need to uninstall the mod how do i do it? Also, during the non linear campign do i have the ability to control the armies of all the good factions at once? Also, I have read so many things about the bugs in this game so i was wondering if anyone could give me step by step direction for how to play the good campign, both linear, and non linear withthout the game craching? I am very impressed with this mod and cant wait for the next version to come out, and if i my make a suggestion, perhaps it would be good to have mission where the elves must defend the sapital of mirkwood through ambushing their enemies. pleaase reply soon

Firstly, you put it in the wrong topic-this is updates and not a topic for help. Also, why did you make your text so big-it's really unnecessary.

From playing the beta myself and reading other topics, each subfaction has all the units to stand alone-but each has its main strengths and it's weaknesses. I doubt Rivendell had no archers at all, but they would have primarily focused on using swordsmen and cavalry. This is shown in the beta with weak archers and strong swordsmen. The last thing anyone would want is to use Lorien and find that your enemy is cavalry rushing and you have nothing to combat them with.

Everything looks great. It would be cool if different factions had strenghs or weaknesses depending on their suroundings. Like cavalry would be slower on montainous maps or archers would be weaker in forest areas. The level of these changes would depend on the faction. Like elven archers would be affected the least in wooded areas and warg riders least on montains. But there should also be an option to disable it in online games.

The main issue of that is balance, because I don't think we can disable it like you suggested.

You could do a map.ini for every map, but that wouldn't be as much fun :p

Can someone list out the Elvish heroes for me and how you will buy them?

If you couldn't switch it off it would kinda be unfair. Fair enough.

Oh and im not sure if this has been sorted. But when Rohan is playing and someone creates Radagast and gets him to his last level you can summon an eagle then mount your own eagle and the option for summoning eagles becomes availible again. Same thing happens if you summon an eagle when flying and then dismount. You can create a whole army of eagles very quickley.(not even sure if this is the right place to post this)

Hello

First of all i like to say i really like the efforts you guys are putting into this game.
I played the mod lots of times in LAN but i still have a question...

Would it theoretically be possible to make a mod where you can play war of the ring with more than two non-cpu players ?

Greetings and sorry for my bad english, english isn't my primary language
