Radspakr announced that he's doing the AI for this new TEA. :cool2: Discuss how it should act and what it should do here, as that other thread isn't about discussing the AI.

Simple:
Easy: Just makes the basic stuff, and keeps it basic. No heroes being used with these guys.
Medium: Basicly getting the advanced stuff, but still no heroes.
Hard: AI with Elvenlord playing style. :cool2:

I think he was talking build-orders and such too.
Unit-wise, scouts>spearmen>riders/knights>Galadhrim.
But meh, what do I know of AI coding?

Pshh, no AI could ever match my playing style. :cool2:

Yes, but what he means is try to imitate it.

And retire the avatar before the summer and spare the hideous sight of Santa hats...

If the AI has no heroes, their siege will be even worse.

I agree with adummy. Even easy AIs bring out the low-level heroes, but nothing more.

They should all build most things, but the Easy should be using a hell of a lot more time to actually get a hero out there, especially a pretty strong one..
meaning you'll most likely have nailed them before they even get it :p

The AI aren't set to what heroes to purchase IIRC, they just use a hell of a long time to get them :p

Anyways, if there's going to be AI for TEA, then good luck... You won't be seeing this community edition out for a long long time... I would object against AI, because it would take to long time, and it could also turn out to not be good enough... And there's also the thing about re-adding every map from the game to the mod files, increasing the size of the mod..

edit: and shoot me dead, but isn't this version because we want to play a tournament with it, with a more balanced play and prettier Gondor?

I though it was. :p
Anyway, i like the idea of the added AI. Just wouldn't like to see it left abandonded unfinished, which is most likely with a project of this magnitute, at least if you want to do it right.
But who wouldn't want to see the AI for Elves, eh? :p

Who said we had to release it all at once? :p And all I asked for was those new skins. :crazed:

but as Sul said, who wouldn't want to see a AI for Elves? :p

That's a matter of setting milestones:

Setting milestones wouldn't make it take less time :p It only only keep it from going off track, besides... Setting milestones for AI would take some time in itself, so I would still object against it :p

Setting milestones wouldn't make it take less time

Yes it would. You just set two milestones. The first has everything but the AI. The second has the AI. Then you'll still have AI, but it won't increase the time needed for all the other features. :p

Setting milestones for AI would take some time in itself,

Milestone 1:
- Bugs fixed
- Balance update
- etc.
Milestone 2:
- AI is finished

simple as that :p

You don't have to make it complicated

I like the idea of releasing the AI in the second version.
It gives me more time.

I believe that it gives players the new version quicker, not you more time :p
Yeah, I'm stubborn on the matter

Well it gives him _slightly_ more time, because every release brings a small overhead (in the form of polish, packaging, uploading, announcing, etc.). It shouldn't matter a lot though.

Everything but the AI goes in the first one, then we add the AI on the second one. The real advantage of having two releases is this. If the AI gets dropped for whatever reason, we don't miss out on all the other good stuff. :xcahik_:

Yes, except that it's not two betas. It's two stable, polished releases. It's important everyone realises this.
Doesn't mean that there can't be betas though.

You're correct, don't know why I put "betas" :xcahik_:
