This is going to be like telling your kids that Santa Claus isn't real... difficult to do, but it has to be done if they're going to grow up. *clears throat*

Years ago, each of us, myself included, started working on the Rhovanion Alliance hoping that we'd never have to announce this. I can't really believe that I'm the one doing it... so here goes, in the words of Mark Antony:

"Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears, I come to bury this mod, not to praise it."

I am announcing that we are ceasing development of the Rhovanion Alliance, effective immediately. The team has come to the conclusion that there is no reasonable way to complete the mod. There is too much left to do, and not enough hands to do it. I don't have time anymore to work on this as much as I have in the past, and with cahik busy with postgraduate GIS work, we no longer have access to the best animator in the community. Dain has been busy with his important genetics coursework and doesn't have time to mod.

I know that a good deal of you will still want to get your hands on whatever we've finished so far. This isn't going to happen. The mod as it is is too far away from any state of stable release to just throw out there for you to play. You'd have far less fun with it than you'd think. However, we are considering working towards a limited release of some parts of the mod as soon as we possibly can.

Thanks for supporting us for all this time, and believe me when I say that we tried our best.

Nertea.

I really don't do requests and my Arnor Soldier is not fit for BFME. Don't ask me for either.

Indeed a sad day, but real life will always be more important than any mod, no matter the quality. Good luck with what life brings you, and know that we'll never forget the time and effort that went into making Rhovanion Alliance the mod which everyone loved and anticipated.

This is unfortunate news. I'm disappointed but at least I know I will no longer feel that little urge every once in a while to see how things are going. You guys gave a valiant effort and I applaud it. This takes away nothing from some of the brilliant things you guys accomplished. Good luck with everything in the future. It's been a long ride since I started following RA my senior year of high school and is only fitting that I end my college days with some closure to RA :shiftee2:

Once again, good luck with everything guys.

ps- not that many will notice but this also essentially ends my days on T3A and also with BFME. Good luck to all who remain.

What? :shiftee2:

*Mulls it over for a moment*

This is unfortunate, greivous, upsetting, but damn it, it must be done. I will stay for the numerous other mods around here, RJ, SEE, GtO's mods. You certainly were attempting a mammoth feat with a mod this size. One should congratulate you.

Does this also mean the site's going to?

Well, good luck in life, and everything.

R.I.P, Rhovanion Alliance.

Damn it.

edit: will the what would become of the skins, models and other previously desinged stuff?

They will be laid to rest and go down in history as parts of the greatest mod to ever fail to reach release.

I...

Told you so?

TBH I am not feeling much of anything (out of the ordinary) right now. Even the best of the best can aim too high, and since the start RA set itself some unrealistic goals. What could have been an amazing (yet smaller) mod was hindered by the loads upon loads of features that were planned. If the team (back in its glory, no, even in its waning days) had had a more concentrated scope, I don't think this would have happened.

But hey, that is just me. Some of the most, no, the most impressive models, skins and mechanics were created for this mod by the best of the best modders BFME had to offer... Its a shame that the project itself has made it so none of these things, YEARS in the making, will ever be played by anyone outside the RA team.

R.I.P.

I saw this coming, no new sneak peeks or updates in the main page in months. The community has lost one of its bests mods and it will not be the same.

However, all the stuff you have done is amazing, it would be very sad if it got lost and with no more transcendence.

What about m@tt's maps? They all looked incredible, and if they were to be released as downloads... you know, just to let the world of Middle-earth in BFME be that bit more bigger, if somewhat empty.
