I was going to say something else entirely, but that can wait. I just saw what I said here before and have something to add: I went to see the doctor on Tuesday and was informed that I am a medical freak. I knew I had low blood pressure, but it turns out that it's so low that I should probably not be a healthy, able-to-walk human being, and a heart rate that had my doctor half-convinced I'm a zombie. She said it's kinda like I'm cold-blooded, but in a medical way rather than a moral way. So yeah, fun times. My body is confusing science. And then I found out my dad has exactly the same thing. So we're a family of mutants. Hurrah!

Anyway, back to the important subject matter. Go here if you're a massive nerd and like writing and pokemon, but hate how unrealistic pokemon is and wish it could be more like real life. Or really, if you wish pokemon was real so much that sometimes it hurts so you pretend and tell stories and hope that one day your imagination gets overpowered and sucks you into this awesome world of monsters and dragons and Japanese people. Yep.
I hope I am a good enough writer that some day dwarves kill me and drink my blood for wisdom.

Pokemon told and portrayed in a more realistic sense? I don't know why, but that just seems really intriguing to me.

Alright... I just had something small to share and didn't know who else would see what I see. This was an actual conversation two bickering friends of mine had on FaceSpace... see if you can spot why I face-palmed myself:

Idiot #1 "Thats actualy looks prety gay lol."
Idiot #2 "please dont use the word gay leik that lol"
Idiot #1 "lol why not?"
Idiot #1 "It does look gay lol."
Idiot #2 "you dont realize its insinsitive lol"
Idiot #1 "Whatever lol"

Sure, complaining because someone used the word 'gay' to describe something stupid is stupid within itself, but every line used 'lol'... a term used to illustrate humor was found in something. It literally means one is laughing out loud. So these two morons must have been on their shins laughing it up since they were having such a good time. It made things even better when Idiot #2 removed Idiot #1 from his friends list because of this conversation. But the lolz!

Clearly they were using it with intentions of its alternate meaning, 'lots of love', therefore... still making it look pretty stupid.

No it's not, Pasidon - don't be so ignorant.

Imagine the furore if 'that's so black/Jewish/Islamic/American' was used constantly as a by-word for stupid/rubbish. Now how is this acceptable?

It may seem trite but the use of 'gay' pejoratively around young children massively affects the way different sexualities and identities are perceived. Anyone with a basic idea of child development and semiotics knows that.

Neh... perhaps. But I never have supported people acting insulted for any reason, especially if it's mundane as using a word out of context. It's just ironic.

1) the use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning: the irony of her reply, “How nice!” when I said I had to work all weekend.
2) Literature
a) a technique of indicating, as through character or plot development, an intention or attitude opposite to that which is actually or ostensibly stated.
b) (especially in contemporary writing) a manner of organizing a work so as to give full expression to contradictory or complementary impulses, attitudes, etc., especially as a means of indicating detachment from a subject, theme, or emotion.
3) Socratic irony (feigned ignorance in for debating purposes)
4) dramatic irony (irony that is inherent in speeches or a situation of a drama and is understood by the audience but not grasped by the characters in the play)
5) an outcome of events contrary to what was, or might have been, expected.

So by which definition is that ironic?

Puppeteer is gay, in the sense that he is a dude who is into other dudes. Therefore he is well within his rights to genuinely be insulted by people using the name given to people of his inclination in a pejorative sense. That's not "acting insulted".

I struggle to determine whether you've just been very lazily trolling for the past year or so, or whether you're just really not all that smart.

Gay has whatever definition it is when used. Gay really means to be happy in it's origins. If I think something is gay because it's stupid I'm gonna say it and not lose an ounce of sweat if someone gets mad.

In the US a black woman got mad when she found the word Negro sewn underneath her couch. Negro is black in Spanish and Italian language. It was a black couch made in China. Go figure...

No special rules for gay people (includes marriage). Everyone is allowed to be an asshole and get married. I've been pretty silent recently but I had to troll this one because it was so gay. :xcahik_:

That's not really trolling, but... ... oh. I see what you did there... crafty. Well done; the gayest thing I've seen in months.

So by which definition is that ironic?

Ahhhh... you're like 3 parsecs away from getting the joke. Keep on that.

Thank you, I feel quite gay (happy) about your reply...Maybe gay people should come up with a new word that cannot be confused with original meanings, like homosexual for example. Or homo for short. Is that considered derogatory to be called a homo? Being called heterosexual isn't an insult.

It's a lot less letters and doesn't confuse the original meaning of the word gay.

@puptent

Doesn't sound like you're very happy, so are you really gay or simply an angry homo?

There is very little PC (political correctness) in my world. It either is or it isn't. Why call someone stupid when you can add so many more syllables and call them mentally deficient. It seems the more syllables there are and the more PC it becomes...

So I'm a self contained, self sustaining, mobile, self entertainment unit. Give me a good short word for that description. Asshole? Conservative? American? Any others?

Human

Also, the word gay is troublesome because its so easy to say. its like a baby-noise anyone can make. It is larger than the definition. it could be used purely as a sound: "gheeeeeeyh" - it hits a reptile-brain button that makes us smile.

For me, gay is about the "flamboyant passive-aggressive pinkish ballet dancer fashion designer/woman in a man's body" type of man-on-man person. If every homosexual wants to be that kind of gay, then I feel sorry for all of them more average people that prefer more down-to-earth style homosexualism.

Not that I'd forbid the above-mentioned type of sexuality, its just that its a bit of a trite stereotype that I doubt fit every one of them. It's like valley girls and chavs and gangstas etc etc etc
