Hmmm... not bad. It looks vaguely like the market square, so I'm assuming that's what it is. :p

Careful. This link is DANGEROUS. Do NOT click it. This one, however, is fine.

I had the meaning of life in my signature, but it exceeded the character limit.

The rock is looking very monotextured, and the contrast to the path texture is pretty high.

Maybe add a few more structures, make it a bit more urban. Otherwise, a good start! :p
I will remember Rhovanion Alliance, RIP .

Here are some more screenshots. The first is the "Prancing Pony", whcih WILL BE OPERABLE AS A FULLY FUNCTIONING INN! The second is towards the front of the town, and this area is intended to match up with the scene from LOTR I which I will put in the next post. I'm also working on a road that will run through the town (third & fourth screenshots) and to the edges of the screen. In other news, I've added some textural details to the grounds and probably doubled the number of buildings in the town.

In response to Scryer's recent post: Yes, the map will be set at night becuase if I remember correctly, most of the action in Bree in the movie happens at night.

It's nice but it's a little big.

...most of the action in Bree in the movie happens at night.

That's not really an opinion, it's more of a fact if we're talking about the movies :sad2: .

I suggest you blend in some extra textures, so it will look more realistic :wink_new:

Like Florisz said, you need to try and blend in the terrains. It looks like you're already planning that though and just doing it at the end?

Really try to capture what the FOTR movie showed us of Bree. Once you have that down, you can pretty much get away with anything. And with that, you have total creative freedom once you capture what the movie has shown us.

After that ^^^ has been done, plan out your city. Bree is a smaller city so just keep that in mind. By planning out your city, I'm referring to creating districts such as a rich/poor district, a back alley black market, soldier armoury, etc.

You also need to decide if you want a player (because I'm assuming it's a skirmish map) to defend the city. And with that, you will need to make room for the players to build structures.

The gate, the Prancing Pony, two outposts and a signal fire are all that can be captured - yes, even some of the entrance gates can be captured and operated on this map! I have already checked, and the special map coding should not interfere at all with player_rohan (the gate[s] is[are] of type rohanedorasdoor)
