Well it's hard to explain. It's basically developing a unique look for your map. It's best that you find your own inspiration though.
Here's some RJ maps that you should take a look at:
- Lanthir Lamath by Hendambar
- Combe Valley
- Cair Andros the Dawnless Day
Those maps are created by our mapping team and I would give them credit on here (again) but they didn't place their names in the description .
Anyways those maps do have some strong themes chosen. I would argue that those maps have specific colours and seasons chosen for their themes.
I am not a mapper though. So a theme is not really needed in a map, it would just make your map stand out a little more.

I've done some playing and I know that the map is still in a WIP stage but here's some criticism:
- You have a huge amount of space to work with.
Once again, don't be afraid to make bold statements with your map. You have tons of space to fill. So don't be afraid to add any trading outposts (not the capturable building, but a legit trading outpost), or major props like that.
If another map doesn't have Buckleberry Ferry in it, maybe you could add that as well?

1. Extract all of the files to your desktop.
2. Open up the .map file and go to "Save As..."
3. Save it in the default location, which should be the one I described.
4. Now the map should appear in the list not as a regular map but as a created map. To get the gate capturing etc. to work properly, go to that directory I described in an earlier post and put all the other files that were in the ZIP download in there. If that doesn't work, please respond on this topic or PM me and I'll try to help. BTW, what Operating System are you using? Cause that can make a difference with some things.

Wow, that's a great idea to put the buckleberry ferry in there! Thanks! By trading post, you mean like civilian buildings arranged to look like a trading post, right?
Yeah that's right. You can even set up hamlets if you really want.
With Buckleberry Ferry, you might need a river though... But search it up and make sure that no other map is using it first .

Windrider, I hope you're still working on this map, it was really starting to come around . Anyways, I hate to advertise games on forums, but have you played Assassin's Creed 2? Because there is this town called Forli (I'm gonna quickly check that ) and it really has a great environment to it that reminded me a lot like your Bree map and the Bree we saw in the films.
So if you have to cash to rent the game (I'm not even going to get started on it..) or if you can borrow it from someone else, I recommend it just so that you can play the Forli level and hopefully you might get more inspiration for your map. The level also has a lot going for it outside of the city walls so hopefully you can get even more ideas for that aspect of your map.
I completely understand if you've decided to move away from mapping but I just thought I would share something with you that could give you some inspiration.

Fortunately, I have got a new computer and it's got Windows 7 on it. So just as soon as I figure out how to get Virtual PC running, I may work on this some more.

What's this map going to be about? I seem to have missed the topic and after reading the first page I've still no clue ^^
I am designing a map to represent the town of Bree as seen in Fellowship of the Ring - or I would, if only Windows 7 64-bit would cooperate!!!!! If anyone has any suggestions for running a 32-bit game on a 64-bit system, please post here! I've already tried Virtual PC 07, and since I have Win7 Home Premium, I can't get that XP compaatibility mode. HELP!!!!!!!
