I just downloaded 007 and I have already come across a severe graphical problem. The units, builds and landscape seem to duplicate across the screen causing a trail effect. This happens on the main menu and in actual gameplay. graphical glitches have also been occuring where the screen flashes black. My original ZH works fine. I'm using TFD and my graphics card is working fine. Please help.

Actually, the mod contains just new 3D models, textures and initialization files. It does not do anything with game engine. If engine works fine with normal ZH then it must work fine with Contra too. The only thing I can recommend is to download latest drivers and check video card cooler and radiator (if possible). If cooler or radiator is clogged with dust then video card overheats and may cause glitches.

The Deluxe Edition; it's just Generals and Zero Hour together in one case. It also happens to be what I own, and Contra 007 works fine.

However, in response to the OP, this sounds suspiciously like the copy protection feature Westwood used for Red Alert 2 where about 10 seconds in, KABOOM, you lose. I would uninstall both games completely and reinstall them both. That usually seems to clear up any problems.

Do you mean RA2 or RA3? I only have 3 installed at the moment and I haven't reinstalled RA2 since my last hard drive wipe...

I mean Red Alert 2, in that it's a symptom of the copy protection feature being activated. I used it solely as a comparison so try an uninstall and reinstall and see if that fixes it for you.

Currently My drive that houses my games is H (happened after we transferred my old drives data to my new high capacity drive), However your launcher insists that my general install is on E drive (my winXP 64-bit drive partition), Could you fix this problem?? (NOTE: I've got Contra007 running now)

It works now, turns out there was a remnant of another mod that was in the data folder, the remnant was some type of graphics improvement. The GC was also slightly clogged.

It is DEFINITELY caused by copy protection and not connected to the mod. It can happen because of corrupted registry entries, incorrect installation, wrong license key or not properly cracked pirate version. This copy protection method is generic for EA products. It also can be seen in BFME, BFME-2 and CNC3. I saw how everything exploded there. Maybe it exists in RA too, but I did not play it.

I'm really puzzled with your situation. So, I don't really know what to recommend. Try to uninstall the game, clean registry with "Unibue Registry Booster 2" or another programm and install the game again then.

Launcher takes data about ZH location from system registry. All you need is to fix install path there. Tell me if you don't know how.

Ah, so EA Pacific did get lazy with their copy protection, just borrowing from Westwood. The easiest fix is a full uninstall and reinstall. That usually clears it up...

Does it display any messages or errors?
Does it work without Contra?

i have a little prob too,
its seems, its not 100% proofed, that, if infantrie get burned and run around burning, my game and the game of my friend goes REALY RREALY slow, i cant reproduce it in skirmish but it happend the most time if an inf is burning.

and another thing, my friend have a german contra version, well we are germans, and we have problems with the pictures, is just colorfull squares, and most are tooltip missing ^^
so its hard to play, any idey witch file i must edit that it can fool the mod that its think its english version (on other games mod it work ^^ )

Answers №8 and 9.

By the way, ContraLauncher solves this problem automatically. It takes game version from system registry and renames folders inside generals.big. But it was not tested with TFD though. If you have a problem with launcher, you need to do it manualy.
