As you all know by now... SEE focuses a lot on "realism". Partially in balance, but also in looks - most defenitely in looks. Even though we might sacrifice a lot of gameplay (risc of lag) while doing that, for those with not so hefty systems :) Anyway, as a next step in polishing and building assets until we start coding again for real in january (pending the rel of RC mod 1.08), here's the new models and skins for SEE Easterlings, using CaH parts, slightly remodeled and thoroughly rigged by our newest member, Elrond99 to fit the Easterling bodies. I tweaked the skins a bit, using prop photos, and this is what we got, using the shield made by Ed of the 3rd Kind! More screens will follow when we finish the remaining Easterling units...

A somewhat better model than the EA vanilla ones I think :unsure:

Their faces look exactly like the ones in the movies. Well done:) Congrats to you and El. And you're right, these look way more high resolution than EA's original :)
Thx

Nice, nice, NICE!! I am glad to see that maybe I was wrong about my good bye....

I like to see skins this well-done, BfME2 is coming closer to the way it should have been (with everyday less of waiting for 4.7)

He's around.... like a true elf, he's not seen that much though :) Me, I'm more easy to spot... just follow the fellbeast-ish stench, moaah :unsure:
Seriously though, El is more active on MSN than on the forums. But I'm glad - leaves more time for excellent models like this =)

And yes NJM, this is what CaH will do in SEE... provide high quality parts for units, instead of the ill placed CaH bodies and anims :p
The only problem with all this remodling is the rigging/binding. It's hard to make any body/model/unit, fit any SKL/anim without some flaws. Thay look about 90% perfect though, but some of them, mostly the Archer, has some minor issues in rigging. Nothing that would be seen to much in game though =)

Very good work Naz! This has to be the best CAH recycled unit I've seen so far!
Ignited into the world in a flash of lightning, it gleams faintly in the heart of its mother, wood. It begins as an ember, a mere wisp of heat and colour. Its chance of survival at this critical moment is minute, yet it fights on, against the unforgiving cold, against the depths of night and against its mortal enemy: rain.

Impressive ! The Easterlings will counter Gondor , no ? since they have heavy infantry and cavalry , plus well trained archers , I think they would fit perfectly to hold against MotW;anyway , great skins !

Yeah, the Rhûnic faction will be heavy in armor and melee power but somewhat slower, just as the Harad faction will be light but very quick and with high ranged accuracy...

I can't take it anymore...

It's "risk", not "risc" ;)

Oh and I'm pretty sure you're doing more than risking lag.. you're going to add lag without a doubt :xcahik_: And not just for the ones with a lower-end computer, but for all.
Just keep the alpha-channels to a minimum and you'll be fine though, I guess..

You can't take... misspellings? ;) Ok, we RISK lag! Better? ;p

However, you can always use the Low and Medium quality models on lower settings, no problem. The SEE uruks, as an example, are about 3000 polys each, and I can use about 200 at once with no lag :xcahik_:

Is it possible that we'll get lag no matter how powerful your pc is due to the restrictions of the engine?

Unfortionately yes - the SAGE engine is sorta like trying to outrun a car with a horse... no matter how fast the horse is, the car will win ;p. But it does truly help with a somewhat hefty system. Mine is pretty normal though, and I don't get any serious lag as long asI keep to normal armies. A few hundred works, a few thousand don't.

I take it that this will be the base model for all 3 basic units of Rhun the swords, spears, and archers? The only difference here being what weapons they are wielding and no shield for the archers? Lastly, what are you planning to make the difference between light and heavy armor be? Perhaps removing the armor on thighs and shoulders?

Contructive question indeed... :p

- This is the base model for ALL Easterlings, yes. That means:
* Swordsmen + shield
* Spearmen (short weapon, from BFME1) + shield. This is the Elite squad!
* Pikemen (long weapon from BFME2 & the movies) - no shield
* Archers - no shield
* Kataphrakt (cavalry) + shield

The supporting mini faction will be Khand with a squad of Variag Axemen, without shields...

Wha about Wainriders , if you do include them ? I think it concerns most of the geginning of the 3RD Age , not WotR.
