Well, it doesn't say that the WK was killed... But who put the spell on the tomb...
Can't wait to find out more...
Too bad the whole background they made for him was false.

I can see how they add an option for a HD download for more profit, but a week before? Won't that simply ease the access to pirates?
I won't buy until the trilogy's out though, and even then I might wait to see if there won't be an Extended Cut. It's not guaranteed, given the decision to make the two-part movie into 3 parts came assumingly late.
But I'm afraid that I'll "have" to get a version of the first films when they get out.

I'll probably end up buying the 3 normals and the 3 extended I will however will probably give the normal ones to friends when I get the extended versions.

I do believe Extended Editions will come out - given that there were parts in the trailer that weren't in the movie.

So, what thoughts on the actors so far? And the different dwarven roles?
I have to admit, I find most of the actors pretty good. Dori has to be the weak point though, both in performance and role among the dwarves. Dwalin and Bofur are my favorites, along with Martin Freeman doing an excellent job with Bilbo. The Great Goblin is also portrayed brilliantly, too bad about his weak death-script. Radagast is wonderful, and the old cast are magnificent once more.
Thorin is played very well by Armitage, but Thorin's relationship with Bilbo has a pretty weak evolution. It doesn't evolve much at all, it's more like he always dislikes Bilbo until he risks his own life for Thorin. Then they're best friends. It's just too sudden. Some of the dwarves doesn't get much attention, so I'll reserve my judgement on them for later. Bifur (not his fault), Bombur (will no doubt get some action in Mirkwood), Nori, Ori, Oin (a few good moments though) and Gloin in particular. Fili and Kili work well as brothers, and Balin is doing quite alright.

Some questions are answered by Peter Jackson about the Desolation of Smaug, also there is some new footage shown with Legolas, Tauriel and Bard:

I'm not impressed. It looks good, but everything is too big. The smaller tale putting the larger to shame in terms of the scale of virtually everything. Thranduil's Elves were supposed to be more feral and less civilized, and yet they've carved greater halls into rock than what the Noldor managed to do in Rivendell/Grey Havens. It's far too showy, 'look at our flashy CGI skills'.
I'm sure I'll like the film, but what I've seen so far is not Tolkien for me. I liked AUJ as a film, but it wasn't Tolkien for me either. Unlike the LotR films.
