That depends on how you use housecolor ;) Example
What you might want to do, is making all units have Housecolour, or no units have it.

Ok, where can I do that? I saw it somewhere once, I really don't want to go through each unit lol.

I kind of like house color.

House colour is fantastic if you use it properly. But it's also time consuming, and there are certain units that don't wear much colour that makes it possible to do it nice (ie, Gondor soldiers wear much armour, and their cloth is usually black\dark grey. It never looks good with another colour then).

housecolor.ini is the file you're looking for. You could remove it all, but it's really only the units that should be removed. To do it, Remove the 7 brackets that are; Gondor Units House Color, Rohan, Mordor, Isengard, Dwarven, Elven and Wild (Faction Name + Units House Color). If you use Notepad++, and you should, the it's line 125 to 1579 that should be removed. (Ctrl+G to open search line in Notepad++)

Here, I simply did it for you. Just replace ALL the content in your housecolor.ini, and copy in the part below here:

Ah ok yes just saw, and I put the housecolors.ini ingame and the dwarves without the house color it looks amazing so thanks very much for that :).

No they have firearrows, I will come back to that later, right now it's fine.

So I'm thinking of making the Men Faction purchase an upgrade at the Fortress to allow them to build a Hobbit building which can recruit all the hobbit heroes (they will be a bit stronger) and some hobbit units?

Or have an upgrade which can then build a hobbit porter that can create a building and heroes and units?

That is to say, you can enable Heroes fairly easily, but not with a respawn ability. You can make them build like normal units, and restrict them to 1 (so you can't build two Pippins), but they will always start at one certain rank when you build or rebuild them.

So the best thing to do is make them automatically start at rank 10, because then it's fairly easy to do, not to mention; there's no problems with respawning.

Oh yes I forgot about the respawn thing, Yes I could try that way, hmmmm. I will probably do what you said. I would like to see Frodo, Pippin, Sam and Merry back in the game, I actually miss them, I found them annoying in BFME1, so useless.

I'll just got Fellowship of the ring extended edition (again lol for the 3rd time) today, I will watch it today, hopefully it can give me some new ideas.

Yeah, watching the movies are usually a great idea if you're ever losing your motivation aswell :)

To be honest, I found Merry and Pippin useful in vanilla BFME1, though only early-game. But the way The Elven Alliance did it makes them stronger for mid to late game, so I prefer it that way. I don't like when units\heroes are completely outdated.


Yes, I didn't want to say losing motivation infear of jinxing lol.

I can't remember BFME1 that well, i think the day I brought it I installed The Elven Alliance lol, so I basically never played the vanilla game. Those were the days when BFME2 was so popular and in its prime, before EA killed it with it's patches and server ditching :dry:

Hmmmm, I was thinking of ~

Removing ringheros, lowering their strength, upping the $$$ to 15k and put them as normal heroes?

Good or bad idea? I rarely see Sauron ingame, and him being a hero actually might make me want to play as Mordor.

I have cut some of the ringwraiths out of the Heroes so there can only be a total of 9 at the most. And King Dain skin was re-skinned by Goldo, he's done some really nice Dwarf skins.

Mounted Nazgul are like ROTWK, they come in a horde of 6, only 1 allowed at each time.

BTW does anyone know any unused Boats in the game?

If you check Worldbuilder you will find some random stuff. There were boats on the Celduin Map, small fishing boats.

I will MP you the expansion1icons_003.tga when I find it.

Also I think others will appreciate it if you edit your post instead of having three posts in a row. You can use P.S. (which means Post Script, or 'I wrote this after I signed the above').

P.S. I just realised that that image has a pretty good portrait of Isildur.

Hmmm.. If you want to create and upgrade that when purchased enables the user to build a building that can build the hobbits then that isnt TO hard just make it like a regular building but have it disabled until the upgrade is purchased. Then just slip the upgrade into the upgrades at your fortress.

Hit The Button. Activate Building. Build Building. Build Heroes. TA-DA

HTBABBBBH for short. LOL but seriously thats how you do it. Start by making the building that can build the heroes and then ill show you how to add the upgrade part afterwards.
