2: Install 2.0 in same folder:

https://www.mediafir...2DP2.0.zip/file

alternative link:

https://drive.google...export=download

3: Install 2.1 update in same folder:

http://www.mediafire...eTo2.1.exe/file

Other interesting stuff:

Facebook group, a god choice to find new players:

---------------------

Information about Comm2P.exe:

Is a modified version of comm2.exe you can find it in the directory of 2.0, it have some improves like resolution screen, use harpoon in land or show enemies alive pressing F6. The missions with 2P in the list need the 2p version for run.

Unfortunetely some antvirus software keep blocking the 2p version and the creator says isn´t a virus but we dont know how to fix this problem. Anyway you can keep running comm2.exe or debug version as always.

Hello everyone

I’m reporting a lot of issues I have noticed when I compare the current one to the version 1.46.

First, the Training Mission 2 used to be re-textured with snow. But on this new 2.0 version (and then 2.1), the map is back to the original texture surprisingly. I kept a copy of the mission files of the 1.46, do you think I can replace one of the files in order to regain the snowy texture in the 2.1 version ? If yes, which file would it be ? Because the TU02 folder is such a mess, I think there are several missions here.

(I wanted to add here a screenshot of the re-textured map from the 1.46, but for some reason I cannot add pictures from my Desktop, I don't know how it works...)

Then, I notice that the new sounds for gun fires, vehicles, etc… are no longer. I remember that was somewhat an issue at very first, like the truck constantly switching between the original and the previous Commandos games’ sounds, which was really a bad idea I think. But I had managed to fix this by myself : I edited the SONIDOS.LIS file (in the DATA/SONIDOS folder) with Wordpad, and all I had to do was to remove the extra file names on every line (easily recognisable with some stuff in non-capital letters, usually something like “ab” and stuff in their name), and then game was perfect, with new sounds, but not too much with the weird cross-games combinations. But now, I find it pity to not have any new sound anymore, because the SONIDOS.LIS has been removed, and I tried to put it back manually into the folder, the game doesn’t recognise it anymore. That’s weird especially when the sound of the rifle shooting is longer than the shot itself, making that you can shoot a second shot with the sound not replaying because the first sound is still playing. I hope the explanation is clear enough and you know what I mean. Any idea if I can get the SONIDOS.LIS file recognised again by the game like in 1.46 ?

Other signs that caught my attention are the inventory, which had been re-textured as well in 1.46, but now it’s back to the original one. And even in the mission selection menu, the difficulties are once again shown as it was in the original game : Normal, Hard, Realistic ; instead of Easy, Normal, Hard. Oh, and about sounds again : in the 1.46 there were extra voices added for the Commandos, located in the DATA/SONIDOS/ESA folder. I didn’t like it, especially because my game is in French, so mixing voices in English and in French is kinda weird, so I was used to just remove the ESA folder. But here in the 2.1, the folder is still here contrary to the SONIDOS.LIS file, but the sounds are not played for some reason.

I’m sorry for this huge block of complain, but apart from the ton of new missions this 2.0 and then 2.1 version really gives me a feeling of a downgrade somehow. What do you guys think ?

PS : I remember someone also reported a bug on the first official mission, in La Rochelle, about the dog food, and I don’t remember anyone could solve it. I know where this comes from, I had struggled to figure it out as well but it turned to be obvious : the one food that dogs never go to eat is the food you found as an item lying on the ground, on the roof of the sub pen. Dog food is coded so that any dog in a certain range (and I believe it must be a very large range) will go to eat it, and it doesn’t even have to be in their field of vision (I guess they sniff it). But the fact that this food in particular starts lying on the ground, and not in a furniture or a crate, makes that dogs (all around the map ?) detect the food, but cannot reach it because it’s on the roof. My theory is that the game doesn’t understand how it is supposed to make the dogs react, and thus makes this bug happen. That probably kinda locks this one food item at “cannot be reached” once and for all, while others can still be used as normal.
In other words, any dog food found on the ground from the very beginning of the mission is born useless. Only food found in a furniture, or a crate, or directly picked from someone’s inventory, can be used so far. That is something which should be remembered when creating/editing a map.

Simply replace TU02.Y64 in DATA/MISIONES folder with the version from the 1.46 files.

And yeah I remember having trouble with dogs not going to dog food on LA Rochelle Part 1/Night of the Wolves, I think the dog food on the roof should just be moved to a box or furniture and I'm guessing this will fix it (haven't tested).

I'm not sure why but some of the original campaign missions have been changed slightly. My guess is because in China they always stuck to the 1.34 version of DP but with downloadable mission packs until 2.0 was released. I guess they didn't like the 1.4x versions, which is understandable as I didn't enjoy them until 1.43 or 1.44 which was when most of the bugs started being addressed and it started becoming a lot more playable since then.

TU02.Y64 has remained unchanged since the game release, so that’s not this one. I tried the other files : the TU02.BAS file is the one for the map texture, the TU02.MIS one changed the Commandos’ outfits and the enemies’ to winter uniforms, and I assume the TU02.GSC one is for the behaviours of enemies. Replacing these 3 files fixed the problem as I wanted :)
I guess that the TU02.Y64 file is not the one executed by the game anymore, only the other files, which are the text-translated files the devs have extracted from the Y64, matter now. I’m just amazed that a map texture can be converted into a text format, I didn’t think that possible even for such an old game as Commandos 2, and that’s why I didn’t believe it was the one file until I tried

Actually, I found out why the mission has been brought back to the initial texture : the winter versions now exist together with the original ones, as S1 - The Cold Training I & S2 - The Cold Training II, these are new 2.0 missions I had not noticed before. But then, why keeping snow falling on the original one… anyway =P

I have not tried to put the dog food into a furniture/crate before use, or if I did I don’t remember what the outcome was, so I don’t know if that fixes the issue

Interesting, actually that’s a very good idea in my opinion to have the core files on one side, and the missions to be installed through a separate pack on the other side, just like some mods for other games do, shame we don’t have this ! I was thinking to do so : to copy the 2.1 missions, reinstall the 1.46 and paste the missions into it, but I guess there might be some issues for some missions. So I will just copy the few 1.46 nice sounds file and paste it into the 2.1 version, just as for the training mission, that will probably be more simple

Thanks for the explanations, keep doing great job guys

There should be a 'Mission List DP2.1.xlsx' in the Commandos 2 directory.

Hey I have an issue. I installed previously the game and I ticked "unlock all missions" box when I installed. Now I want to lock them again.. How can I do it? I tried uninstalling and installing again without checking that box but it still shows the previous profiles with all missions unlocked! Please help. Is there a file I can just edit of something like that?

Thanks for your reply!

I try creating a new profile but it doesn't work, it just creates a GONZOANDJON but with all missions unlocked, (nothing happens if I change the name of course). I think there could be a file that the uninstall doesn't remove and that is the one that has some config file with the "unlock all missions" line?.

EDIT: I tried the Debug mode and now it works!

I have the feeling that the exe has been modified so that all missions are unlocked regardless of the profile.

Is Comm2P.exe actually safe?

I'm starting to not trust this exe. Even after putting it pn av exceptions many times  sometimes after an av update it detects the file as malware again even if i've already put it in the exceptions

very  good job !!!

Btw, I have not ticked the box at Commandos DP 2.0 installation in order to have enemy stronger ( 2 rifle shot or 6 pistol bulets). But in game, enemies, still have the "normal energy." (I kill them with only one shot rifle and 3 bullets pistols)
