Thanks to a reestablished cooperation with my personal favourite mod - Edain mod - and a new found friendship with its team leader Ealendril der Dunkle, I am very excited to share the awesome news of a very rewarding trading deal that landed SEE the right to use Edain's fantastic models representing Thorin's Company from the Hobbit movies. Othe than the fact that these models are so good that they (IMO) match the awesome models in other mods I admire, such as the SaF, RJ mod, etc - the most important aspect is that it saves me a tremendeous amount of time, not having to model these guys myself. Sculpting, painting, topologizing, UV mapping and rigging takes its time and I'd estimate that I would have to spend most of the autumn making these 13 dwarven models, if I had not found this trading solution.

I know some of the prominent members in this modding community don't really approve of trading, and that's sad as I don't wanna annoy anyone, but I hope most SEE fans find this to be a good solution as I can focus on the much needed coding instead, when I'm done with my own models for the Misty Mountains (former Moria) faction. In return I gave Ealendril and his Edain mod full rights to the requested and donated models made so far: Great Goblin, Azog, Yazneg, Fimbul, Gundabad Hunter Orcs, Gundabad Warg and Stone Giant, as well as the upcoming Bolg and Goblin Town goblins...

As an awesome side effect of this deal, I also get my models rigged in an instant by Ealendril. He's not working in 3DStudioMax though, only RenX/GMax, but the result is very good anyway, and fast!  :thumbsuphappy:

Now, the plan for these units in SEE is simple. I want SEE to feature all dwarven heroes that are alive at this time, and the rest will be summonable via the Spell Book to make Thorin's Company a powerful option for this faction...

Alive fortress heroes

Gimli

Gloin

Dwalin

Looks good. But keep in mind that by this time, Bombur is described as being too fat to "move himself from his couch to his chair at the table, and it took six young dwarves to lift him". That could make for an interesting hero...

Not saying we'll update to Hobbit standard just yet, but I'm contemplating on the dwarven heroes so I wanna make sure I remember it correctly in case we wanna put some of them in...

Note that Dori's and Nori's dates of death are unknown, although Dori was still alive and appeared in the Council of Elrond. However, as NJM said, Ori met his fate in Moria, and was the very one who wrote the Book of Mazarbul.

DUDE! This is awesome! Coincidentally, I was planning on adding these guys and a bunch of Dalish human heroes for Kingdoms of Men, but it was going to be based on battle efficiency rather than on existence in TA 3019. This means I was gonna add every Dwarven hero from the Hobbit movie trilogy except Bombur as Dwarven heroes. But yeah, I love the fact that you're doing something similar but also different :thumbsuphappy:

There are two models for Dwalin and Gloin. You might need permission from the creator though.

Also, according to the studio, Nori is a thief. Maybe giving him some sort of stealth or stealing power would do his hero justice.

No, you don't need permission, just give him credit for using them.

What? What's wrong with Bombur? I mean, besides being ridiculously fat.

I'm thinking that Bombur could make a very unique hero. Tolkien describes him as being too fat to  "move himself from his couch to his chair at the table, and it took six young dwarves to lift him." The first thing I think when I hear that is battlewagon hero.

Give him leadership, various buffs affecting battlewagons specifically, maybe a healing ability (could be eating related, call it Warrior's Feast or something), and you have a good support hero. Give him a sedan chair carried by servants, and a pike to jab at enemies with. Boom, instant hero that is both useful tactically and by giving the dwarves some much needed diversity in their heroes.

Oh this is smashing! :)

I don't know if this is possible. But it would also be epic in a map about the siege of Erebor during the War of the Ring. I like the idea of having units that are only unlocked when they are fighting on home ground.

Here are a few ideas for Thorin's company.

When paired with their relatives [Ex. Balin and Dwalin, Fili and Kili.] their strength and armor multiplies. However when alone, they are weak, no stronger than the Hobbits.

Gloin

[Keeps none of his previous powers.]

- Axe-Throw (Throws axe [similar to Gimli's axe throw])

- Firestarter (Throws firebomb)

Oin

- Ointment (Heals all nearby dwarves.)

Dwalin

[Inherits all of Gloin's previous power set.]

- Charge (Allows Dwalin to trample enemies)

Balin

- Veteran (Trains nearby Dwarves)

Bifur

- Orc Hunter (Bifur gains a boost in damage)

Bofur

-

Bombur

- The Cook (Allies slowly heal around Bombur when there are no enemies present [A mobile hearth if you will])

Ori

- Slingshot (Projectile shot that deals moderate damage)

Dori

-

Nori

- Thief (Gains resources for slaying enemies [Similar to Eomer's outlaw power].

Fili

- Thorin's Heir (Passive, allies around Fili gain a boost in strength and armor)

Kili

- Weapon Toggle (Bow and Arrow, and Sword)

- Brothers (Kili gains a boost in armor when around Fili)

Thorin

- Majesty (Passive ability. Nearby Dwarves get a boost in armor and damage)

- The Goblin Cleaver (Passive ability, gains a significant boost in damage)

Interesting idea about pairing with relatives. Could be sweet. Though we have no plans to use any of the dwarves who are dead before the war of the ring. The moria faction is an exception because there are no heroes mentioned around the war of the ring.

I don't know exactly what you are asking, or the exact answer.

However, yeah this post is in the right spot. =D It could go in SEE Heroes - http://forums.revora...235-see-heroes/ - but really this is about specifically what heroes will be part of Erebor. =D
