Hey Naz I sent a new audio file to the repo. Its scavanged blades to replace the forged blades upgrade completion audio. You'll like it, a little cut and paste job using stock audio from the game.

There are no other to choose from... unless we just wanna make them up. There are other's in the game that wasnt alive by this time. Smaug being one of them and dragons in general. Besides the fact that all heroes also can be revided ;) But yeah, I see your point..

The game mechanic is one thing, but thelong dead heroes being around is another entirely :trickydick: Tolkien re-uses names all the time. Gothmog is a balrog in the first age then later the name is used for the leutentant of mordor at the pelennor fields. Theres also numerous Aragorns and other human names. Not too mention 2 different Gloins and all the Durins.

I think the great goblin is fine, he could after all, be so titled because of size and stature. Not that he is the one in the hobbit. I think Azog, Golfimbul and Bolg could be more as a "homage" to the originals rather than being them themselves.

The Great Goblin - Recruit the leader of the Orcs of Goblin-town
Azog II - Recruit the Goblin King, grandsired by Azog King of Moria
Bolg II - Recruit the heir to the Goblin Kingdom
Golfimbul - Recruit the decendant of Golfimbul of Mount Gram, whose head was used to create golf.

I dunno, this what I came up with. It isnt perfect but I think that a clever person could deduce the lineage. :smile2ap:

So... we'd pretty much have to think of this with every faction? It could be annoying. Also Azog II doesn't really work well with the lore, Azog's direct line leads down to Bolg.

Why would we need to with every faction? Azog and bolg predate the war of the ring. I'm aware bolg is azogs son. I'm implying azog ii is bolgs and bolg ii is azog ii's. A little ridiculous but still works kind of. I prefer this, and azog was never known to have ridden on a warg. Icant recall but I believe bolg was the one who rode on a warg or at least brought wargs/wolves into an alliance with the goblins. I apologize for getting fussed over small details. I guess it doesn't matter either way.

I guess it comes down to the director, Nazgûl's vision, if he likes it and to him it makes sense. I'm happy.

I don't mind your idea, however one major lore issue concerns me, we've seen alot of people named [first name] [last name] [number] however, it has ever occured amonst goblins has it?

Nope lol. But you could do something like this Azog warg rider - a title of sorts rather than using a number. I like you am always happy with naz decisions either way. I just couldn't hep feeling people would want all kinds of stuff from the hobbit as a result.

Yeah, people will be asking for stuff from the Hobbit, that is inevitable, however... S.E.E. is first and foremost a Lord of the Rings mod. Best not to mix up timelines... so a solution would seem to do as you say, but it sounds so bland, titles is an option but didn't Nazgûl say something about asking Namo to help us out naming the heroes, if he's still around that is. He's always been helpfull in these situations.

Yeah its pretty lack luster thats for sure. Im hoping somebody good with lore knows of more goblin names. Ive yet to find anything at my usual sources. Perhaps a request in the lore section would be good.

This is really no biggie for me, but I defenitely see where you're coming from NJM as the topic has been up before on other things. Mostly the issue around Smaug, and to some extent Boromir. All I know is that Moria needs heroes...

The audio was a good idea! I'll put it in =)

This weekend, I'd like to finish this faction (the list), so we can move on to Erebor after that. But it depends on how much time Blauw and Geel has...

I always lumped boromir into the same catagory as anyone else who died during the war. However I see the issue with him since he died early on. Smaug on the other hand falls under the same issue as above, you could use any other dragon name from tolkiens writings like: Scatha the wyrm, and Glaurung. It would be more interesting to create a name using the language of the easterlings for Drogoth rather than reusing smaug. But I dont know jack about the language.

Looking forward to the beginning of Erebor. Theres 1 thing I hope youll consider doing to the dwarves.... reskin all the buildings. Shikari did that for Rj mod and they looked heaps better as a result.

You have any screens for those, in RJ mod?

About Glaurung... wasnt ALL dragons dead by this time? Glaurung could be the name of Drogoth though. You know, there are THREE dragon models to deal with, excluding the little drakes.

1) "Smaug", the flyby model that scorches the battlefield annihilating everything.
2) "Drogoth", the controllable flying unit that has several powers.
3) "Summoned Dragon" that is a land based walking unit with only Breathing Fire as power.

What I would like to do at some point when doing Rhûn, is have someone model and combine at least two of them into a devastating unit that could both fly, and land/walk around. So some things remains to be decided until that faction is done. But that's for later :-p

Good screens! And I see... they mostly killed all the bright colors on the structures. I was already planning something like that even though many lore guys often say the dwarves had a deep love for bright colors... We will also remove the axes as stucture defensive weapons and make sure all structures have 3 stages of level ups as well as proper bibs and massive buildup dust FX. No big changes but important to verify. The biggest change in Erebor is, unlike all the structure work in Moria, all the units.

The edited sound you made NJM (Gobscavengedblades.wav) sounds great, but I have no friggin idea how to insert it after looking at the audio reference...

voice.inc in the fmoria folder

AudioEvent CampGoblinUpgradeForgedBlades                ;pickups2
  Sounds = GCGoUpg_forgeda GCGoUpg_forgedb
  Volume = #ADD( CAMP_GOBLIN_VOLUME 0 )
  MinVolume = #ADD( CAMP_GOBLIN_MINVOLUME 0 )
  Type = world player voice
  SubmixSlider = voice
End

I know this because I spent forever hunting down that bit of code so I could find out what the audio files are named so I could do the splicing. I would have made the change myself but you requested I dont touch any of the ini files

Yeah I know... I found that as the end of the reference chain as well, but Sounds=GCGoUpg_forgedaGCGoUpg_forgedb are not VAW sounds? So where do I put it?

I'm pretty sure that's the right reference. Those are the names of the audio files I used to create the edited one. I'd just try deleting the 2 referenced audio files and replace with just the name of the new Gobscavangedblades see if it works. If I screwed up on the audio files format, I can correct that. I'm pretty certain its a WAV like all the other sounds.

EDIT.... just tried what I suggested and the audio doesnt play in game. maybe we can swap the file name with one of the older ones that was working.

EDIT2: rename my created audio file to GCGoUpg_forgeda and it will work, just delete the reference to the GCGoUpg_forgedb. It works this way I tested it.

That was was I was thinking too, but still it's quite odd... where ARE the original sounds. They don't appear to be WAV sounds as I can't find them in the audio folder? And doing a search for GCGoUpg_forgeda and GCGoUpg_forgedb leaves nothing but that INI. So my thought is that there should be a final destination where WAV are named into these funny names... :whathuh:

The original files are wav. They aren't in the mod audio folder. You'd have to extract them from the vanilla big file. I did this over a year ago, though I seem to recall that the English speaking audio was in a different big....not sure what it was. I just remember the first big had all gibberish audio.

Now I figured it out... The audio is indeed in that folder, in DATA/AUDIO/SOUNDS... but, since SEEdc is based on the vanilla version on RotWK, and not BFME2, the folder contains only audio from RotWK :-P The rest is in the BFME2 vanilla game =) That explains it, and I was too tired to think last night, hehe. I'll set it up. Do let me know if you find more similar stuff in audio.

It happens.... far too often to us all. Im going to inquire about the "new audio" that wont play. Seems we should be able to get it to play without copying over existing files.
