The State of Royalty

Númenorean King/Queen

Rules and owns all land, and has final say on any laws or actions taken by government.

Ar-Pharazôn – 25th and last King of Númenor, usurped his cousin Míriel to take power.

Númenorean Prince/Princess

Rules provinces, and has directs and resolves inter and intra-province conflicts. These were not necessarily descendants or relatives of the Royalty, but were associated so by close familial friendships coupled with great bravery or intelligence. Given the sexism that came with Sauron’s corruption of Númenor, no Princesses were ever appointed power under Ar-Pharazôn.

·         Herumor

·         Fuinur

·         Khamûl

·         Er-Mûrazôr (the Witch-King)

The State of Nobility

Númenorean Guilds

Each professional and government division has a House or Guild, answerable to the ruler of Númenor and set with its own hierarchy of business.

The Ciryatanians – The best shipwrights of Númenor, and owners of merchant shipping ports. Resides in Rómenna, with branches in Eldalondë and Armenelos.

Ardamir Forgeries – A private, very insular and mysterious, weapons development team. Resides in Eldalondë.

Parmaitë Circle – Personal advisors to the King of Númenor, with administrative powers over the Númenorean economy and industries. Resides in the Houses of Lords.

The Minastery – The war council, who administrate weapons and mercenary contracts as well as serving as directors of warfare. Resides in the Minastery in central Armenelos.

The Wards of Ingolë – Practitioners of magic and lore masters of Númenor. Resides in the Monastery of Ingolë, on the Northern Cape off Sorontil.

Númenorean Titles

Númenorean Noble individual titles define their powers and restrictions, reflected in-game.

Luimë-Hér – Shipwright owners (10% off naval developments, 25% increase in build speeds)

Telpë-Hér – Efficient tax collection (15% increase in Farm productions)

Ohtarnerion-Hér – Warlord (15% increase in ally damage, 10% increase in attack speed)

The State of Followers

Manca-néri
The merchants of Númenor, usually just living off what they make from trade.

Masto-néri
The common men and women who have part-time jobs to sustain their families.

Taurë-néri
Woodland hunters of deer and wild boar sell on the Númenorean markets.

Quárë-néri
Farmers of crops and manual labour forces.

The Unregistered States
All the underground commerce and illegal activity in Númenor; the black market.

Mól-néri
Labour slave traders

Hrístonaitë
Worshippers of other faiths than Morgoth in Númenor were later outlawed.

Maicapilu
Unregistered weapons forging and trading

Yérëmanca
Snatch slave trade

Símacuru
Substance market

Two problems that I found are:

  • Khamul was an Easterling
  • magic and lore are not the same thing?

This is smashing chap. Jolly good. =D

Also can you give the reasoning for the names (which words you merged together) - what language is it in?

Khamûl is an Easterling, yes, but was born before Akallabêth, so there's sufficient gaps in years to assume he spent a while in Númenor.

And yes, magic and lore aren't the same thing, as lore can extend from history to jewel-craft, it's a very general term.

The language for all non-English terms is Quenya, in most cases amalgamations :

Luimë-Hér - Sea-Lord

Telpë-Hér - Lord of Silver/Man of Money

Ohtarnerion-Hér - Lord of War

Manca-néri - Man of commerce

Masto-néri - Man of the village

Taurë-néri - Man of the forest

Quárë-néri - Man of the fist (as in hard labour, using hands)

Mól-néri - Man of slaves
Hrístonaitë - Man of Christ (ie. of a physical Messiah)

Maicapilu - Blade thief (ie. stealing money from legitimate weapons traders)

Yérëmanca - Sexual [slave] trade/prostitution

Símacuru - Sorcery of the imagination (ie. being high)

I am interested in this seemingly steampunk? Numenor. =D Are you basing elements on Imperial Age England?

Nah, not going steampunk, it's just a necessary part of an advanced, industrialised civilisation, not entirely based on any one in particular other than some in-use versions I saw on the train to Edinburgh.

Since I decided it was. It, and Atlantis generally, was considered to be very powerful and advanced, so yeah.

Numenoreans are finally getting a little of their own structures:

nbfortress.png

And the Black Numenoreans have a new unit, known as an ahyaröa. These are twisted Maiar spirits, tortured to the point of insanity and irreversibly damaged much like the creation of Orcs, and are so far gone into their madness that they make your armies as vulnerable to attack as the enemies, if left unchecked. They are probably the most elite forces under Sauron's rule, utterly fearless, and known to to even the Black Numenoreans as the Angels of Death. Fearsome, agile and easily disguised against the terrain, they are the distributors of brutality and murder, the perfect killing machine.

Why do you people never reply? I feel like I'm just kinda posting this stuff to myself, like sticking it on my forehead the wrong way around.

It might be because the people most likely to reply don't venture beyond T3A very often.

Why's this topic not in there, anyway?

I always check when you post, Renny.  Sorry.  I'll try to start being more active on your stuff.  I know getting appreciation around here can just be morbidly depressing.

I thought it'd be better in my personal art forum, since I'm the only full-time member of Westernesse. Thanks Pas, it does help with motivation to receive anything, be it compliment or criticism. And in terms of the latter, thanks a lot MtL, I missed that, thanks for the good idea! Will do now.

Everything of this is very grungy - I am not sure I like it, but when the time comes I would love to view it in game. =D

To be honest, I'm kinda trying to do that. I always thought in BFME vanilla everything was too clean, too nice. The grass was too green, the stone on castles too polished; I'm aiming for what's rather like Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy in comparison to the older 'Pow! Bam!' type of films. The cold reality style instead of the done-up Hollywood. I've been mostly influenced by a combination of ancient buildings fallen into disrepair and places currently in conflict, such as wartorn Syria and Israel. I originally wanted to make a surface mod, just kinda making the optimum Numenor, and isle of purity, but since then I've moved onto a deeper state, instead settling on its later years to minimise the timescale and make it feasible and workable in the period, and in doing so realized Numenor is far from the glorified place I once perceived. I've built segregative walls between the two major cultures, the black markets and slave trades, a corrupt hierarchy and religious conflicts, the elements to construct a civil war. Numenor will be a place of ruin, underground fear, violence in the streets, with a biased police force, intense discrimination, utter demolishment of lives, and eventually, a great flood washing it all beneath the waves.

This is the Numenor you will know from me, not the legend of paradise of songs of praise, but indeed a home to self-service and chaos, and unrest beyond control running rivers of blood into the seas, staining it forever as a place which the white sails avoid and the vultures even fear.

Um... not quite what I had in mind. I was going to go for a more subtle approach, such as an en-maddening fever or crop disease making people severely ill, and then adding sinisterness (God, that's a crap word, 'sinisterness') by the afflicted being confined to asylum for lobotomy and experiment by (dubiously motivated) scientists. This would lead to the conclusion of being cursed by the Valar for the Black Numenoreans' blasphemous practices, for which both the

Elendili and the Black Numenoreans could agree, thus creating a simultaneous increased divide between the two sides and also increasing the already-cultivated distrust and hatred of the Valar (eventually leading to their downfall).
