Real life counterparts? I was looking at the tanks/ vehicles of mental Omega and wondering if they had a real world counterpart by looks or type. Here are some of my ideas of what they could be based on. Wondering if anyone else has ideas or are some as is possible 100% made up. I’ll be skipping ones I think have no real life counterpoint or I am not sure about, but if you have an idea do tell.
The allies:
The Stryker is obviously based on or is the IAV Stryker…only makes sense. Or so I think.
The bulldog light tank, could be the M41 Walker bulldog, it looks similar and has a variant with a 90mm gun though the original had a 76mm one and my other thought is it could be based on the m47 Patton 1 tank, also similar in shape and this one is normally equipped with a 90mm. Both of these tanks use the same style tread support and suspension system. It seems to be the same as the Bulldog.
Archon A.M.C: I was thinking Greys Panther Recon vehicle or perhaps the Renault VAB for shape and window placement, but it is neither are on treads. Still they are where I’d put my guess.
Cavalier Medium Tank , while there was a Mk VII Cavalier / A24. It looks nothing like the in game tank. The in game Cavalier has odd large back wheels like a Christie suspension, but normal bogie suspension front ones. The hull reminds me sort of the Challenger but not the turret. Long story short, I’m not sure.
Zephyr Artillery: I’d guess the M109 as it is the most influential Self-propelled howitzer, but the size of the gun is 155, however many other vehicles are based on this one. It also looks similar. South Korea has a very similar looking M9 which would work for region. Still in 155 so I’d still guess that one though as 120 is not a common howitzer size anymore, from what I know and certainly not one with a barrel as long as the Zephyrs.
Abrams Tank: I’m going to go out on a long shot and say the Abrams Tank is based on the M1 Abrams MBT.
The soviets:
Rhino Heavy Tank: I would say the t34/85 the shape is similar and the suspension looks to be the Christie type. However it might not have that suspension do to a side skirt covering the top wheels, so it could be the IS-2 as it is a sort of similar shape and a bit closer in gun size.
I’m really not sure about the rest… A lot of them don’t look Russian though, the jaguar sort of, but most Russian tanks have a forward turret or mid, not a lot of back set turrets. . I know my Russian tanks well enough, but only tanks so if you know any other soviet vehicles or tanks have a real world counterpart let me know.
Epsilon: Not a clue.
