Could you give me a little more on the reasons why I should go with Windows 7?

Thanks for the promo Elric!  Adding everything together (including shipping costs), my total comes at $988.28.  I shall wait on Kwen though (and any anyone else wanting to provide feedback) before finalizing the purchase.

There is no connection between the brand of the graphics card and the motherboard. I don't really know why that MSI card is more expensive than the EVGA one, frankly I prefer EVGA cards to MSI, but that it just an opinion matter.

650 watts is more than enough for a build like this. The only time you really need more is if you're running a lot of miscellaneous internal components, or you're trying to run multiple graphics cards. Since you're doing neither, that PSU will be perfect.

Windows 8 is fine if you are willing to deal with the user interface. You can also get that amended and make it look and feel just like windows 7. And it is a faster OS. But there is still compatibility issues with some things, and you don't really get any benefit over 7.

I still recommend Windows 7 over Windows 8.

Ok, I have submitted my order.  Final cost came to $967.71.  I am excited to get this computer built as I am sure it will blow away anything I have ever worked with. :)

We need a thumbs up button. If you have any questions during the build process just post although there are tons of tutorials on youtube on how to do it.

So I got done watching a two hour video Newegg has here about building a custom computer.  I found it very helpful and informative.  Hopefully, I will be able to get everything running smoothly by using the video as a guide.

Yeah those Newegg videos are great. I watched the same when building mine.

Also, it's great that you're back, Rob! :good:

i tried that at first to to be honest, i messed up because the IO shield or something had these little pins on it which i hadnt seen anywhere in any videos and i have no idea how to deal with them so ended up breaking them off. I still have no idea.

Hi welcome back to Revora Rob38, I am secret fan of yours about the idea with Helm's deep :D

So, the GPU you linked is not a recommended brand.

Generally:

If you want an Intel build go with these:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H LGA 1150 Intel Z87 @ $144.99

Processor: Intel Core i5-4670K Haswell 3.4GHz LGA 1150 84W @ $249.99

Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 760 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 @ $269.99

Memory: G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600 @ $84.99

Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 @ $69.99

Power Supply: SeaSonic S12II 620 620W @ $79.99

DVD ROM Drive: ASUS 24X DVD Burner @ $19.99

Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 @ $69.99

Subtotal: $989.92

If you want an AMD build go with these:

Motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 @ $99.99

Processor: AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz AM3+ 125W @ $199.99

Video Card: Sapphire 100364-4GBF4L Radeon R9 270X 4GB @ $229.99

Memory: G.Skill Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600 @ $84.99

Case: Cooler Master Elite 431 Plus @ $59.99

Power Supply: XFX Core Edition PRO550W 550W @ $69.99

DVD ROM Drive: ASUS 24X DVD Burner @ $19.99

Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 @ $69.99

Subtotal: $834.92

On AMD Build you can spend more than 834.92 $ and buy more RAM, 32-64GB, and/or you can buy a SOLID STATE DRIVE instead of hard disk drive, unless you want to save some budget :)

BTW can you check my Topic here? :D http://forums.revora...-based-version/

@Windows 8 subject,

First of all, Windows 8 is full of bugs, and after all there is no Windows 8 anymore, it's Windows 8.1.

Another reason why not go with Windows 8-8.1 is because there will be another Windows 8.x coming out (Microsoft announced), so you would have to re-format again your computer.

Imo, windows 8.1 is a great operation system, beautiful UI, but the only reason you would want windows 8.x is because of the Store.

If you want a stable OS go with Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate.

Its still called windows 8. Windows 8.1 is just the name of the update. its basically a service pack. MSI is a well known brand. Also, if you had read the thread you would know that he already ordered the parts for the computer (speaking of which have they arrived? :p

The only products i find to be nice about ASUS are there monitors, there mother boards have terrible instruction manuals not sure if same goes for the graphics cards.

Hi welcome back to Revora Rob38, I am secret fan of yours about the idea with Helm's deep :D

Thank you!  In regards to your computer part recommendations, thanks for them, but I already ordered all the parts.  Since this is my first build, I know that things will not be perfect, and there are varying opinions on what are the best parts to get.  As I see how all the parts I purchased work, I can make better decisions in the future of what I like and don't like.  In regards to Windows 8, it is my understanding that whenever Windows comes out with 8.2, you just download the update and install it.  I highly doubt Windows would make you reinstall the entire operating system.

Also, if you had read the thread you would know that he already ordered the parts for the computer (speaking of which have they arrived? :p

Yes, they just arrived the other day a matter of fact.  My plan is to work on the computer build tomorrow.

Well yea, you wont need to reinstall the whole OS, but if you get cracked windows, you would, because store and some other stuff wont work properly :/

Anyway, congratulations for your new pc, and happy gaming :D
