Ok, my custom build is complete! :thumbsuphappy: Please see attached picture for what the inside looks like (I cleaned up the wire layout a bit when I closed it all up.).  It took me over five hours to build it and test to make sure everything worked.  Not bad for my first build.  Of course, things did not go so well after that.  I was installing Windows 8 and all the various drivers, components, etc. when I crashed everything.  Not sure what I did, but my operator system refused to boot up regardless of what I did.  As such, I had to wipe my hard drive clean and restart all over again.  Since then though, things have been going smoothly.  And dang, this computer is FAST! :w00t: Now comes the tedious and long task of installing all the various programs and modding tools to my computer.  For now though, I do have a questions.  Any recommendations on the settings for the Nvidia graphics card?

Looking good! :p Well done, (odd about the crash though hmmmmm. make sure all your cords are tight in the correct sockets i guess.)

Anyways, looks sexy and if its fast then its even sexier. XD As for the graphics card recommendations i just leave them on manufacturer settings (basically changing nothing) If you want more speed the power options in the control panel could be upped to High Performance and you might get a slight increase. What is your windows experience index rating??

Well, apparently the windows experience index rating was removed from Windows 8.1

So, it appears I am more or less clueless when it comes to installing and using 3ds max :p.  I may have to go back to Renx as that is what I am familiar with and know how to use.  I know it does not have features that are in 3ds max but maybe I can get help down the road.

Nono, go for Max. It's superior, and far more stable. RenX had a habit of crashing every now and then if I recall correctly.

What seems to be the (specific) problem, officer?

Don't shoot yourself in the foot with awful RenX. Listen to Lauri.

If you can't get it installed, PM me and I'll help you.

Alright, maybe with some help, I can get it to work.  I can install 3ds max 8 no problem.  Now, I get confused with all the SDK tools and how to properly add them to max.  Let's start there and then we can tackle the next problem I'm sure that I will run into.

I believe the only sdk tool you need is the w3d importer and to install that there should be some kind of startup folder in the 3ds max root (typing on my phone else I would give you specifics

The SDK should just install everything you need automatically. w3d exporter, w3d material (texture stuff), etc.

Then I suggest going for NDC's updated w3d importer instead of the old coolfile one. It's on the website.

How does the SDK install automatically?  When I install SDK, it just put all the files in the C: drive.

Right, and then just take out the folders located in the 3dsmax 7 folder the installer created, and paste them in the 3dsMax 8 folder (program files\Autodesk\). That's all you need to do.

Well, apparently I made everything more complicated than it needed to be. :p  I also installed NDC's W3D importer.  His enhanced version is amazing!  Finally, UV maps are maintained for BFME2 models and binding is also maintained as well.  :xcahik_:

For the Nvidia dds format in Photoshop, what setting do we use when exporting to dds?

I never touched any of the settings, so default, I suppose.

BFME 1 and 2 both work beautifully (including online mode). :)  Now onto ROTWK.

I use the DXT3 settings when exporting dds files.
