It was well made.  It may go against the grains of the book, but sometimes literature doesn't reflect well on TV.  I dunno how it went against the book, but it went against it well, I'll say. Even though it was a bit silly in some parts.

I only wish there had been more than a handful of wall-scalers when they cut loose that awesome blade-on-a-chain.

No it was not. In the books the two attacks were separate and both were more interesting than the combined one in the show. When the Wildlings attacked Castle Black from behind, the Watch was actually prepared and gave them a serious fight. As in fighting all over the place, including the stairs up to the Wall, then setting the bottom part of the stairs on fire and dropping a huge chunk of ice from the top. Not just 20 people crossing swords in the yard.

In the show the Wildlings seem to easily overpower the unprepared band remaining in Castle Black at first, then somehow fighting the same amount of men in the yard for the rest of the episode.

Sieben Elefanten hatte Herr Dschin
Und da war dann noch der achte.
Sieben waren wild und der achte war zahm
Und der achte war's, der sie bewachte.

From a realism point of view though, attacking from both sides at the same time (or especially, first drawing everybody to the top, then attacking from behind), does make more tactical sense.

That anchor thing was awesome, but that harpoon that they used to shoot a giant, why do they have it? I mean, they didn't believe giants existed, right? And I doubt it's left over from the old days.

Yea, that wall anchor was silly.  I think that scrawny kid had a higher k/d than wall anchor.

It's called budget. HBO doesn't have it.

This Game of Thrones nonsense makes like ten million dollar bills per episode.  I'd hope budget wouldn't bean issue.  But yea, the barbarian army inside the wall had like 12 actual people, and the wall had like 20 people.  It didn't look as big as they were saying in the show.  Someone was pinching pennies.

Careful. This link is DANGEROUS. Do NOT click it. This one, however, is fine.

All caught up.  Over-all, it was much better than last 2 seasons.  Was is season 1 quality?  Heck no.  The scenes in the east were really boring and they didn't really do anything, which has been a common theme for the show.  The Wall finally got interesting, even though the relationship between Sam and that dirty woman is really pointless, boring, not really that emotional... Ginger Bint is dead, which is fine with me.  Or whatever her name was... Piglet.  Apparently, according to a quiz I just took, she's the character most like me.  Barf.

Other than that... finally some well written material in the gaps.  The Hound and little Stark girl had good scenes.  Although, I was waiting for that emotional scene with the two Stark girls reuniting, and they didn't for reasons not explained between episode 9 and 10.  They left the Hound alive, so that means he'll return, but even more ugly.  I'm fine with this.  And the final scene with The Mountain being treated was really well written and brought lots of interest.  "We can cure him of death, but he may accidentally become more of a badass."  That's 80's nonsense, and it's wonderful.

So yea.  Better.  But still really dull in some areas.  You can only tease a super awesome looking undead army for so long... it's getting really annoying now.  More undead army and less Sam, listening to peasants whine about how awful it is to be free, almost encountering relatives, and especially less Hodor.

Just you wait and see what the Mountain ends up as. It's gonna be good.

It's probably the most interesting thing teased in this show.  But hopefully he doesn't become as boring as Jason Moma's zombie form.  "A man who cannot stay on his own horse is no man."  No zombies allowed in the Dothrackie dominion, so no exceptions in the 7 kingdoms.

Are we ready for another round of fawning over this show (with Pasidon's occasional sobering commentary)?

I am.

Guh.  This season is the last chance I'm giving the show.  I was told last season was going to be "better than season 1."  It was the most dry season yet, with only a scene with The Mountain crushing a pervert's skull, being the only pleasure I was able to salvage from it.  We'll see.  I'm interested to see what the black magic medicine stuff did to The Mountain.  It's literally the only reason I'm still watching... that and the looming threat of ice zombies that always fail to make any meaningful appearance.

Last chance....

To balance out me bickering already, here is something completely different, yet distinctly familiar:

Yup.  Saw it.  That was boring.  I like the little hints referencing the scenes of black magic in this show, how it is always hidden, yet very real.  We got a little taste of that again in the first 5 minutes... then here we go again.  More boring talking.  More repetitive drinking.  More pointless sex.  More unnecessary violence.  The verbs of the show are just meatless.  And I even hear people saying, "Oh, this episode wasn't that interesting.  But it's building up to something cool!"  Son... that is every episode past season 1.  The writing just sucks 90% of the time, then you have that one really good moment that usually has underwhelming impacts.  This show is just a lesson of sitting on your hands and just waiting for the moments, and people are starting to see that.  "But we'll give you sex and violence while you wait!"  No, I want writing.  Good writing.

I think I'm done waiting for it, by the way.  I quit.  This show is just dead.  If you wanted irony in some form, the last good character this show killed off was itself.  I'm so sorry Season 1, but you have not been avenged.

Show is dead in your opinion when in reality the viewers just keep going up. :D http://en.wikipedia....#Viewer_numbers

a quick Google search of those numbers seem to be pretty valid.

Anyways, that said. I actually love this series. I never read the books which is fine with me because it means I have no idea what is about to happen. If you really are the kind of person who likes to figure it out before the next episode then obviously you will hate probably most if not all TV shows. they revolve around solid cliff hangers and story line. If you follow TGOT story line then yes there aren't many paths but the paths they do have are intriguing.

Just my opinion. :p

Lots of people watch American Idol as well.  That don't make it a good show... one that delivers intellectual satisfaction.  A show with a good balance of tasteful action and dialogue that simply does more than talk about plot while sitting over a vase of wine, or.... singing.  Maybe it's a typical jerk thing, where it's popular because sex is one of the primary themes of GoT.  In that case, you people need to get your id nonsense in order so you may rejoin me for some proper, intellectual entertainment.

Apparently lots of people are digging this season.

I'm not. In fact, I'm getting quite annoyed. Too much teasing, putting off of resolutions to presented issues. Episode 9 doesn't have to be the only pay-off episode.

Let's hope the last few episodes make up for it.

I don't think you should even give them a chance.  I keep hearing people say, "This season has been really slow... but the last episodes are going to be worth it!"  No... that's a retarded way to look at it.  In reality, this season has been terrible, like the last few, and only make the last few hours worth your time.  After season 1, that's how it has always been.  "But all is quiet in the realm, me lord!"  That's code for: nothing is happening, and people are still watching for reasons I can't explain.  I hope the ratings take a massive hit finally so people move onto something less painfully dull.
