Hello,

I have been playing RA3 for years and was playing daily after the new servers launched a couple weeks ago.  However, I can no longer play in 2v2 or 3v3 games.  This started right after the latest update.  I was playing and connecting without issue prior to that update.  If I host I get a failed conn error when trying to start the game.  The error states my conn failed with every player in the room (1-2, 1-3, 1-4, etc).  When someone else hosts, they tell me that my conn failed. I have played in 1v1 games, but my conn is failing every time I join a game with 4 or more players.  One might just write this off as a local problem (and I suppose it's possible, but seems highly coincidental if that is the case considering it happened immediately following the update), but I wanted to throw this out there to see if anyone else is experiencing the same problem?

Here is what I have done so far to try to remedy the issue:

1.  Restart PC

2.  Restart DSL Modem and run bandwidth test (results confirmed no loss in bandwidth compared to a prior test)

3.  Uninstall / reinstall the launcher

4.  Temporarily disable spyware / antivirus software

Do you have launcher version 2.0.5, and have you removed the static port number in your RA3 settings?

I had updated to 2.0.5 when it came out a couple days ago and did the update again when I reinstalled the launcher.  Also, I double checked my settings in RA3 and there is no static port assignment.

Have you forwarded port 16000? If not, do so.

Actually, that won't help. It might be a bug in our natneg server.

I did add a pinhole for port 16000 and it didn't help.  I am currently trying a full uninstall of RA3 and reinstall.  I don't think that is the issue, but will try.  If it is a bug with your natneg server, what can be done to fix it?

I did a full reinstall of RA3, did the patches, and the update for C&C online again.  That did not work either.  RA3 is opened on my firewall and setup the port forwarding for port 16000.  That also did not work.  This happened immediately after the update.  Please let me know if bug on the "natneg" server is causing this?  I have no way of playing until this is fixed.

I have setup this new Revora account.  I will try to join a game to see if it's possible my other account is somehow bugged in Revora.  I will let you know the results.

New Revora account did not work.  Still getting Conn Failed errors when hosting or trying to join games hosted by someone else even with the new Revora account.  I was able to play without any problems prior to the last update, now I can't play at all.  If there is anything else I can to fix this, please let me know.  Here is what I have tried so far:

1.  Rebooted PC and restarted my DSL modem

2.  Uninstalled / reinstalled C&C online launcher (current version - 2.0.5)

3.  Uninstalled / reinstalled RA3

4.  Checked internet bandwidth from PC and confirmed that the upload / downloads speeds are the same as they have always been

5.  Started game with antivirus software in silent mode

6.  Setup port forwarding for port 16000 on router

7.  Made sure there was not a port assignment in the RA3 game settings

8.  Double checked to make sure RA3 is open on my local firewall\

9.  Setup and signed in with a new Revora account and logged into RA3 using a new screen name

Yeah, there is no reason a second account will work where a previous one fails.

It's as Phil said, probably a bug in the natneg server. It'll get fixed in time. Until then, I don't think there's much we can do.

This is affecting me also, I can login to the game and chat fine - but I am unable to connect to other players.

Please can we escalate the issue with the netneg server and ask for a fix ?

I know this is preventing other players from enjoying the new server - and there is no chance of rebuilding the Ra3 community here if we cant even have a quick match?

I am experiencing the same problems as the original posts and to be honest, I am getting a bit frustrated over this.

I have been playing this game for years now and recently, I got my own brother to buy this game as well(both have Ultimate collection). This was ment to do the co-op storymode together and perhaps in the future to go online in the whole VS others community.

Though, all of a sudden we can not connect to each other any longer, after the whole C&C online thing with Revora. Except for the porting 16000 (of which I do not understand the explanation on how to do this) I have tried everything the original poster tried.

How come all of a sudden we (the customers) have to jump through all sorts of burning hoops in order to make up for your (Gamespy) mistakes if I may ask? Everything has always worked perfectly and I myself have played Red Alert 3 online for about 7 years now. And now this stuff comes up and all of a sudden it doesn't work any longer.

Don't feel attacked by me, I'm simply stating how I as a customer feel :whathuh:

Got the exact same problems here.  :flame:

Forwarded the port 16000 in my router settings and all the other things that were done by Dome_Shot_Dizzy.

Getting quite frustrating over the fact I simply can not play online at all since the Revora - stuff.

Please try to find a solution for us as quickly as possible, folks...

Warheart1985, you seem a bit confused. The reason that you cannot play online anymore is that GameSpy closed. That is not Revora's fault. Revora provided a replacement free of charge and out of the kindness of their hearts so people could continue to play. You are not a customer of theirs. These people are doing you a favour. You should keep that in mind.

If you want help (which is also provided free of charge by volunteers), you should make your own topic. Please read the common issues thread and the "How to report issues" pinned topics first.

Indeed, we are in no way affiliated with GameSpy or EA. Quite to the contrary, we are a bunch of people (mainly me) hacking away at stuff so people still have some possibility to play online. Since GameSpy closed, not being able to play online should be the default expectation. If it does work for most people, it's because we put a lot of our free time and energy into it.

I understand you're frustrated that you can't play, but we are not the ones responsible for the situation. Direct your complaints to EA, whose customer you actually are.

Warheart, I feel your pain, but this is not Revora's fault.  Like Phil and Toxic mentioned, they created this server after GameSpy went offline for free.  I want to play as much as you do.  It sounds like they at least know there is something wrong on the NATNEG server, so we just wait and hope a fix works, but I can't be mad at Revora for trying to make this work for everyone.  At lot of people throwing a lot of issues at them in a short period of time.

Phil, Mathijs,

We thank you greatly for setting up the Revora C&C servers and I personally would like to thank you for your efforts!

But, this natneg issue !? wtf?

I have a game open in RA3 Casual 1 for you to connect to and evidence the problem yourselves, maybe this will help you to identify why this problem arises - from someone who persistently experiences this problem.

We have a thread, with many users reporting the problem - I will return here regularly to investigate or reply to your demands!

Thanks,

R3d

As we've said several times, we are aware of this issue and are working on it.

You can stop badgering us with your aptly titled game in the RA3 lobby now. We KNOW, and we do what we can.

Keep up the good work Revora.  Can't wait to play again when you have time to fix it.  From what I've read so far, sounds like it's a bit complicated to get it fixed.
