In related news, I can't view the official promos on the official Star Trek YouTube channel. 2016 and we still have geolocking, fucking great.

Shall be interesting to see where this is placed in things. I'm no Star Trek expert but I suspect some early parts would be interesting to see, political strife and whatnot.

Old fashion Star Trek done as a modern drama should be very interesting. Hopefully, they match the dark charm of Stargate Universe.

The ST franchise turned 50 yesterday, I didn't even know the date this was supposed to take place on. I was on time for the rerun of Redemption Part II (TNG 5x01), so I didn't fail my Trek kind completely

Oh, I was wondering why hideous pictures of Gene Roddenberry were being paraded around FakeBook last week. I'll go flagellate myself while watching the Abraham Lincoln episode in shame for not understanding.

I started rewatching Voyager since I haven't seen the episodes in chronological order since they started airing in the 90's. It starts off better than I remember.

GUUUHHHHHHH... Voyager. The Star Trek episodes I hate the most are the "woaahhh... the entire show was a dream" episodes. There are an annoying amount of those in Voyager. I hope, hope, HOPE the new series ditches these types of episodes entirely because they are so boring.

Holy cow... Rainn Wilson??? Heck yes. I hate that the Walking Dead woman is in here since I physically can't stand her, but maybe she won't be a complete loser in this. Very optimistic for this series.

Anybody watched tonight's premiere? I thought the show was so-so.... more different than the recent Star Trek movies.

Just watched it. Really, really good start. I'm very pleased that it didn't try and emulate the movies at all. The cast isn't particularly strong, but they haven't even introduced the main crew yet. I don't entirely like the new look of the Klingons, but their revitalized culture is so good. Really looking forward to more scenes with them, even though they already killed off their strongest actor.
