Oh my... good lord. 3 months later I finally got a chance to work on this for real again - in between IRL shit. Only the back of the legs left to do for the sculpting, then I will paint the model before the tedious task of topologizing and UV mapping. Anyway, it's good to be back in the game. Let's hope I can keep it up  :whathuh: With any luck, this model - when finished - will also be rigged by (and for) my buddy Ealendril from Edain Mod, assuming he wants it...

This is the weta statue I used as reference for the details... I'm not sure about the vivid color though, so I'm probably gonna go with a more pale skin.

This is just incredible! It's a shame the model doesn't come into BFME in full quality. I mean, this could easily be a fighter for Mortal Kombat for instance. Some skulls under his belt would complete the model. I have faith we can see a good Hobbit mod in the end! I hope some other people give you their stuff, like the palace guards of Valanquenta, as then it will be awesome.

I like it. You seem to have gotten better at those sharp, hard angles. I feel some of your previous models are a bit too soft on those, but this one works better. Maybe the shoulder armor could be a bit sharper though.

What kind of hero do you plan to make of him? Personally I would love to see a stronger version of Lurtz out of him, being able to toggle weapons. A warg rider could be a bit overkill with those other heroes (Yazneg and Fimbul, and the great Azog). Bolg doesn't really do shit on his warg. I would like to see a special arrow ability (like the one that hit Kili), a leadership one, summonable orc hordes (the half troll ones from gundabad) and finally maybe an ability for a smash with his club.

Thanks =) This model has more of that though, then previous models (hard surfaces and sharp edges). I think only Azog's mace comes close...

 

Yeah, Bolg will not be mounted. He'll be based on Lurtz and as such he will toggle between melee and bow. Faster and more agile than Azog, but not quite as strong. Poly count will probably be high for this model, cause of all them details and sharp edges, but I'm not too worried about that as it's a single unit.

Yeah, not sure if I'll bother with that as this mod won't feature that period. Same goes for Azog. I have no plans to add the new elven soldiers either. Basically, these orcs are just in SEE cause there are no other ones available, and this is cooler for a movie based mod than making ones up :p Finished the sculpt now. Will post pics and start painting soon... =)

I'm surprised about the elven units. I never liked the mithlond Spearman and the Mirkwood soldiers in the hobbit seem a better fit. But it is again more work for you, so I see the reasoning.

Yeah I hate the mithlond guys too... but I might be able to trade for some better elven units.

Mithlonds are horrible, I agree that the mirkwood spearman would work better. Bolg looks awesome!!!
I think he should be an uped version of Lurtz. I mean after all, he owns tauriel, and Legolas has to "kill" him like 3 times in BotFA

This is amazing detailed Nazgul. Those veins on the body and the sharp metal are fantastic. =D

Thanks friends! Here is the metal with all shades, rust and highlights. Only some pinching left in the edges to sharpen, then finish his skirt and boots.

Hopefully I can find some help with the weapon he has, as I hate modelig hard surfaces. Azog's mace was not fun...

I'm not fast... but I'm thorough  :trickydick: Back metal pieces was a drag, but here we go. This model is by far the most tedious to make. Especially when my poor laptop is sorta melting and have crashed a couple of times now. I'm so glad this is the final model needed for this faction  :whatoa:
